so, been looking into bike carriers for my chevy equinox and had some mixed experiences. tried a few brands but honestly, the Yakima HoldUp was a game changer. super easy to install, barely took me 15 mins. and the stability is insane, even on bumpy roads. i took it on a road trip once and not a single shift, even with my 29er mountain bike, which is a big one.
On the flip side, that Thule carrier seemed kinda flimsy for the price. took forever to attach, and not once, i felt like it was gonna fall off.
i also had a go with the Hull-a-Port, which seemed alright at first but then started making weird creaking sounds after a few uses.
not sure if anyone else has faced this but any tips on cleaning a bike carrier would be awesome. and yeah, how often do y’all check the mounting hooks to make sure everything’s tight? i sometimes forget.
curious if others find Yakima as solid as i did. let me know what you think.
In Toronto, I’ve tried a few for my Chevy Equinox but the Thule Tep Speed seems bomb. It didn’t jiggle like earlier ones I had. Felt super stable on highways. Other guys in the driveway swear by it too, so yeah, it’s solid!
