so i own a 2002 4runner limited haha. head gasket issues are super common. took mine to the shop like 3 times already. check your fluid levels often. also heater problems, never stay warm even with the heater full on, annoying right? my friend had electrical issues, lights flickering constantly. and yeah its a beast for off-roading, but you gotta check the suspension regularly. any tips for oil leaks lol. mine started just after 3 years driving it around. how do u handle rust spots? sharing my story just in case it helps others. hope that helps
I’ve had one of these in Dallas, and oil leaks were a nightmare! Electrical issues kept popping up too, like the ECU acting up now and then. The transmission can be a bit iffy too. Had some fun getting it fixed though, always something to keep us entertained!
I’ve had tons of troubles with mine in Texas—the AC kicked the bucket, had a leaking trans, and the shifting was super janky. Always seems like the electrics go bananas. I’ve got to admit, it’s tough keeping it running smooth, but man, it’s a beast on the trails! Frustrating, but worth it!
I’ve had my '02 4Runner Limited for a few years now, parking it in Vancouver. So many quirks! First up, the paint chips like none other—got more clear coat layers than a cake by now! The battery always plays dead when it’s cold, and the A/C decided to pack up early, defrosted in the heat of summer. Regular maintenance helps, but man, it sure likes to keep us on our toes. loved the off-road vibe, but sometimes hate the hassle, y’know?
I’ve had issues with my '02 4Runner Limited in Seattle—head gaskets are a pain, and the ECM keeps throwing tantrums. Suspension can get sketchy, too. Had to trade shafts on that one! Mine ain’t too different from others near Vancouver.
Back in Detroit, I had a 2002 Toyota 4Runner Limited. Frequent caliper & brake rod issues—it was a pain. Oil leaks were a nightmare too. But, love that ride! The off-road beast handles rough, man. Survival mode starting to sound like my daily playlist till some repairs happened. Every ride has lessons!
I’ve got a 2002 4Runner here in Toronto; it’s a beast but throws a fit with the ECU sometimes. Also, muffler issues are crazy frustrating. Handles like a tank but gear shifting ain’t always smooth. Had to buff out some rust last summer. Loving it tho!
I’ve been dealin’ with this ‘02 4Runner Limited in Canada for years. Transmission’s a nightmare after 100K miles, keeps gettin’ stuck between gears, especially here with all the salt on roads. Battery’s another story, pulled over at a dead battery more times than I care to think. Fans absolutely LOVE those classic quirks! For those in the USA, hope it’s a tad better. Drive safe everyone, y’all!
I’ve got a 2002 Toyota 4Runner Limited here in Kentucky, and the V6 sometimes hesitates. Also, watch out for rust, especially around the wheel wells. The A/C’s also been a pain, but overall, still a beast for reliability and off-road fun. Always wax it up though!
Back in 2012, I picked up a 2002 4Runner Limited in Michigan. Battery issues were a pain—seemed to die quicker than you’d think. Not once jacked up on reliability though! Those interior lights sometimes flicker like they’re throwin’ a rave without permission. But for the mountains, she’s solid!
I’ve had my '02 Toyota 4Runner in Texas, and holy smokes, those electrical issues can drive you nuts! I’ve seen folks strugglin with random lights poppin up on the dashboard. And let’s not even start on the transmission glitches; it’s like, do I put it in drive or dream after that annoying clunker noise? At least the engine’s solid - keeps me rollin’!
I’ve got a '02 4Runner Limited in Seattle, and the oil leak’s been a real pain LOL. Had to keep an eye on the transmission fluid too. Anybody else got corroded sensors in theirs? The rust’s no joke in these parts!
I’ve had my 2002 4Runner in Texas; it’s pretty solid but not without hiccups. The transmission can be finicky, especially in hot weather. Had to change a few sensors too. Not bad overall, but I’ve seen lots of belt issues here. Such a beast though!
I’ve got a 2002 Toyota 4Runner Limited up in Vancouver, and man, there are some quirks! The transmission shifts super rough sometimes, and let’s not talk about the AC acting up like crazy. I’ve been to the shop a few times for strange noises too. It’s old school charm, but you gotta baby it! Had a buddy in Seattle with the same issues - classic 4Runner vibes.
