What are common problems with the 2005 Lexus RX?

had a buddy with a 2005 Lexus RX and man those transmissions can act up i think it starts slipping sometimes anyway and the power steering pump is another thing — mine started whining like crazy around 80k miles. replaced it tho.

fuel pump issues too, someone told me they had to replace it twice. steering column switches going bad too, lights or AC acting weird sometimes.

mudflaps come off like they’re not glued on right at all.

Have you guys experienced any of those? Oh and the tailgate latch can be a pain.

But another guy said his rug definitely needed more attention than usual to keep it clean.

Curious if any of you have the same probs

Back in '08 near Toronto, I’ve had rust issues with my 2005 Lexus RX and it had a whining noise when idling. Friends say it’s common, busted transmission too. Gotta be careful if you’re eyeing one! Not all bad, but watch out for them problems, y’know?

I’ve owned a 2005 Lexus RX here in California, and let me tell ya, the transmission can be a real pain! Everyone’s mentioning how it shifts like a stubborn old mule—not smooth at all. Also, rust problems were big issues, especially up North in Canada. Electric fans can die too, just my luck. Anyone else deal with this junk?

I’ve owned a 2005 Lexus RX in Texas and had a few probs. The A/C went kaput and toyota parts aren’t cheap! Leaking coolant and some electrical glitches too. But hey, leather seats rock, and it runs smooth when it feels like it. Keeps me on my toes, ha!

In 2005, I got my hands on a Lexus RX in California. Love the luxury, but man, those engine issues! Weird stalling felt sketchy, especially when driving in heavy traffic. People raved about it until the “check engine” light started hogging the spotlight. Suspension noises drove me nuts, especially round corners. Wish they’d had a better pre-sale check for east coast buyers like me. Shopping days are everywhere different! Next time, peeps, gotta ask more.

I’ve got a 2005 Lexus RX in Texas, & it’s had some quirks. Noticed the A/C acting funky during hot summers, & yup, had a tranny issue once. But man, leather seats are still top-notch. Everyone needs a reliable old beast! Plus, it’s got charm. LOL

I’ve run into a few issues with my 2005 Lexus RX here in California—rumble seat belt and brakes can be stubborn. But hey, it’s still a smooth cruiser on the road. Just gotta be on the lookout for those quirks. Anyone else deal with this?

I’ve got a 2005 Lexus RX up in Michigan, and the engine light bugs me a lot! Some folks say the CVT transmission gives them trouble too. Servicing often, but it runs smooth. Anyone else dealing with tranny fluid leaks? Always learning something new from folks here!

I’ve owned a 2005 Lexus RX for years, primarily in Texas. One of the most common problems is the CVT transmission acting up—sudden jerks and hesitation. Also, the oil leak is pretty annoying, needing frequent fixes. The A/C compressor fails if you’re not careful with maintenance. Even though it’s a luxury ride, these small hiccups can be a headache. Anyone else faced similar probs? Would be good to swap tips!

In Toronto, my buddy had an '05 Lexus RX, and it was hit with some annoying problems. The transmission occasionally slips like it’s on ice – terrifying! Plus, the tailgates and locks act their own drama. Dealers weren’t exactly helpful. Who knew 5M’s would try for a drama queen vibe, huh?

I’ve got a 2005 Lexus RX here in Seattle, and it’s been a mixed bag. Oil leaks are a usual thang—ruled out the rubber seals. One time, the transmission hiccupped right onto my way to work. Pretty frustrating, especially when you just wanna chill with your car loan paid off! Some peeps get their spark plugs fixed, others just roll with it, ya know?

I had a pal in Canada with a '05 Lexus RX who always had tranny issues—like, it would slip out of gear on the highway, super scary! I’ve heard lots people complain about the clutch also. After 100k, it needed replacing. AC was on and off too, very annoying, especially in hot Miami. Just seems like they made some tradeoffs for that sleek style. Anyone else had similar woes? Let’s hear it!

I’ve got a '05 Lexus RX up here in Canada, and it’s pretty solid otherwise. But gotta say, the transmission is a pain, starts jerking after a while. Brake issues too, especially if you ain’t been changing them often. Oil leaks by the engine bay have become a norm, not what I signed up for when I first got it!

I’ve got a buddy in SoCal who complained the ABS light on his ‘05 RX was freaking out. And man, I’ve heard a lot about the head gasket actin’ up too. In Canada, my cousin’s LX had similar glitches with the transmission – they thought it was haunted! Just saying, it’s wise to keep those parts in check if you want it smooth on the roads. Keep your eyes peeled, folks!

I’ve got a 2005 Lexus RX from Calgary and let me tell ya, the electrical system is a bit dodgy. Lights flicker like crazy sometimes, and don’t get me started on rust issues. Brake problems too—seriously, they wear down faster than expected. Gotta keep 'em in check or you’re in for headaches!

I’ve been cruising with my '05 Lexus RX in Texas, and heating issues are a real bummer. Plus, voltage problems keep my battery on the fritz. Friends mention brakes too—nothing major, but bothersome. Glad others have similar stories!
