What are common issues with the Nissan 2000 Altima GXE?

Hey, been having some issues with my Nissan 2000 Altima GXE recently. Noticed a weird noise from the engine bay, kinda like a whine. It was fine last week but started when I hit a pothole. Anyone dealt with this?

And my A/C ain’t blowing cold anymore. It’s weak, and you can tell it’s not working right. Took it to the shop, but they said it need replacement parts. Anyone got ideas?

Also, my check engine light keeps flashing. I thought it was just the battery or something. But then again, it could be something serious. Did anyone else have this issue? My friend said their car had the same problem, was leaking oil from the engine. Could be time for a check-up if it gets worse.

Thoughts on what might be causing these issues? Thanks

I’ve been owning a '99 Altima GXE in Minnesota and it’s a real trooper! But the AC kicks the bucket after like 5 years, and those exhaust leaks are a pain to sort. Timing belt change was a nightmare too. Anyone else in this boat? It’s a solid car despite the quirks!

I’ve had the whole transmission issue with my 2000 Altima in Canada. Then my starter gave up last year too, super annoying! Fuels inject pump a mess, too. At least it looks good, right? Just gotta be ready for repairs, y’know? :upside_down_face:

I’ve got some troubles with my Altima GXE back in Texas—a real handful it is. The AC broke down in the middle of summer, and battery is something else, always dying faster than expected. Throttle body deals too, that thing sticks up quite often. Anyone else? Seems like these issues are pretty common for this model here in the States.

Driving a '00 Altima GXE in Canada was an eye-opener. I’ve had issues with the timing belt snapping suddenly—totally unexpected! My buddy’s in the USA, and he swears his ignition switch fails often. Head gasket problems are like a curse for many. It’s a reliable bargain until you hit these common snags. Seems like every Nissan vet has a horror story or two.

Had a rough time with my 2000 Altima GXE here in Calgary. Carried a whole symphony of rattles and annoying electrical glitches. Engine trouble after a few years too—ugh, always finagling stuff. Anyone else hear the song of broken parts? Definitely miss the reliable old days.

I’ve had my '98 Altima here in Seattle for a couple of years now. First thing I noticed was the AC acting up, either too hot or freezing. The timing chain was a pain too, needed a swap after only 60k. Then, forgot about the tranny starting to jerk when shifting—felt like riding a rodeo bull sometimes! Despite these trouble, loved the ride and handling overall. Those trips to the mechanic, well… all part of the car game!

I’ve got a 2000 Altima GXE right here in Canada, and let me tell ya, it’s been a mixed bag. First, the transmission issues, like it’s got a mind of its own - shifting all weird-like. Second, the electrical gremlins - my buddy says it’s not just him, lights and radio be tripping out sometimes. But hey, it’s a classic and still runs fine, if a bit quirky, so it still has its charms, ya know? Those of us patient enough, we take care of her quirks!

I’ve got a Nissan 2000 Altima GXE up in Toronto, and it’s been a ride with quirks. The electrical system acts out like a moody teen—random dead batteries, flickering lights, and won’t charge right. Had to change the alternator and a few other parts. Those old V6 engines can get shaky too, especially with the idle. Definitely a work in progress, but the ride’s got a real charm!

I’ve got a couple issues with my Altima GXE around here in Seattle. Engine trouble’s a biggie; shift into gear can be real jerky, especially with all those bumpy roads. And the A/C quits on ya more times than I want to admit, at least every other year. Maintenance’s a pain but worth it when the car runs right.

Been driving this Nissan 2000 Altima GXE in Toronto for a solid year. Stuff keeps breaking down—battery, starter issues mostly. Tires wear quick, too. Friends mentioned clutch probs, too. Old but chuggy, just wishless could run smoother but ok for the price I paid. Little vibes, expected 'n all that—road just part of life ya know!

I’ve got a 2000 Altima GXE in Detroit, and man, the electrical system’s been a pain. Lights flickering on and off like crazy, and the AC decided to give up last summer. Heard from buddies up north it’s the same story, but nothing beats the V6 rumble! Still love that ride tho, but boy is it a fixer-upper.

I’ve had my Altima GXE in Canada since '04, and the A/C blows hot air when it’s nice 'n cold out. Engine light flickers like it’s got a mind of its own. Been to the shop so many times for the throttle body gunk! Not the best, but it still runs after all these years, haha. Good luck with yours, folks!

I’ve had my Nissan 2000 Altima GXE in the Midwest, and it’s been a bit of a mixed bag. The transmission’s had its days—randomly shifting gears is a pain. Engine overheating’s common too, especially on hot days. I remember getting a stranded by the side on the highway because of it. But hey, it’s still cruising fine. Just gotta keep an eye on it and do regular maintenance. Good luck with yours!
