so im here to chat about my 2005 Lexus GS, the kind of car you expect to be top-notch but it has its quirks. first up is the hybrid system im just wondering if it’s the same for everyone cause mine has been acting weird. sometimes it won’t switch between gas and electric like it should, especially when i’m on the highway. maybe it’s just me? also, the brakes. they kinda started squealing a lot and i had to get them checked out. i heard some others say they had to replace the brake pads more often than usual? and the AC, oh boy, sometimes it’s like it wants to blow hot air instead of cold. anyone else dealing with these things? and by the by, someone mentioned having issues with the battery going dead out of the blue, that’s never happened to me yet but just figured id mention it, you know? just thought i’d share my experience and see what’s up with everyone else’s rides
I’ve got a 2005 Lexus GS in Chicago, and it’s been quite a ride—literally. Had some trouble with the A/C acting up dry like a desert, and the brake pads seemed to vanish faster than things at a garage sale. Suspension’s been finicky too, especially on bumpy roads, making it feel like a roller coaster sometimes. But keep in mind heating issues are a common gripe among my buddies with the same model.
Back in '06 in Toronto, my buddy’s Lexus GS had major electrical glitches—dashboards lighting up like a Christmas tree. Oil leaks too; had to change it like every other week. Mind you, beast for those long highway cruises though, smooth ride and all. Real picky about maintaining it though!
I’ve had my 2005 Lexus GS in Boston for years, and that A/C unit is finicky—crazy hot summers. Plus, the engine light pops on annoyingly often. Nearly filled the tank with both fuel types, thinking it was thirsty. Word on the street is oil leaks are pretty common too. Owning a Lexus sure feels like a roller coaster!
I’ve got a '05 Lexus GS in Texas, ngl, common issues pop up like head gasket fails & HVAC glitches. Talking about leaf springs complaints too. Mine s humdinger of a ride but a PITA at times to maintain.
I’ve got a '05 Lexus GS from California and man, the head unit bugs me big time—random crashes mid-song. Then there’s the brake fade during summer, gets me every time on those steep hills. Definitely a couple quirks, no doubt!
Back in Chicago, I’ve seen plenty of 2005 Lexus GSs. Noticeable issues are quirks with the transaxle and occasional starter problems. Talk about frustrating! But man, nothing beats that ride smoothness when it’s not acting up. Own one? Ever run into the same headaches?
I’ve got a '05 Lexus GS here in Canada, and her fuel pump started acting up after a couple years. Friends say theirs nothin but bad luck with the oil cooler in colder climates. Some peeps even mention the throttle body can get sticky. Owning a Lexus means you’ve gotta check the strockage and make sure it runs super smooth. Had to replace the alternator last year too. Guess its just part of the ride. Keep it rolling, y’all!
I’ve got a buddy in Toronto who had a 2005 Lexus GS. He kept griping about the VVT-i solenoid thingie, constant trips to the mechanic when his check engine light would go wack. Also, the power steering felt like it was lagging sometimes – made parking a bit of a pain. Another issue was the AC compressor, had to get it fixed more than once. A friend told me it’s typical for that model but yeah, kind of expected considering the price.
I’ve got an '05 Lexus GS in Toronto. Battery issues galore — changes every 2 years. AC’s a nightmare, too, always hits me right before a road trip. Seen it happen to others in the States too. Brakes feel good, though! Still, a bit of a lemon if ya ask me.
I’ve got a ‘05 Lexus GS in Toronto, and it’s nailin’ the road, but there are a few issues. The A/C can die, like suddenly, then I have to switch it off for a bit. And there’s someone whistle from the front end, probably the suspension. All good, but keep an eye, or they’ll hassle ya. Gotta love Ms. Lexus, with quirks and all!
Living in Texas, I’ve got stories with my 2005 Lexus GS. Constant AC issues, peeps. Great ride, but the electrical gremlins are a total headache! Diehard Lexus fans still love it despite bugs.
I’ve had an '05 Lexus GS in Seattle, and it’s been a mixed bag. Love the ride and style, but the transmission issues are real. Could be the hybrid bundle, but mine’s been in the shop more times than I can count. Had my battery replaced too. For the price and power tho, still a solid ride if you can stomach some repairs. Anyone else hitting these snags?
In Denver, I’ve had issues with 2005 Lexus GS’s brake rotors wearing out unbelievably fast. Constant maintenance hassle – felt like fixing on a regular basis was the norm. Been thinking of downsizing for a smoother drive experience, can’t stand the hassle anymore. Noticed others in Canada say the same, pretty annoying thing!
I’ve had a 2005 Lexus GS in Toronto, and while it rolls smooth, the electronic throttle often gives me grief. Battery and A/C compressor outages happen. Also, beware of the timing belt at ~100k miles—don’t want a big bill!
Back in '09, I had a '05 Lexus GS in Ohio. Surprising electrical gremlins - dashboard lights flickering like disco! Had my share of blown head gaskets too. Other car heads in the area had similar issues, no joke. Guess there’s a little karma with the baby Benz sheens. Frustrated much? Yea, but that
V8 always forgave much damage!
I’ve had issues with my 2005 Lexus GS here in Toronto. The AC unit acts up every couple months, literally freezing me out in summer! Also, the engine light popped on way too often, drove me nuts sorting it out. But totally stands the test of time, still smooth rides!
I’ve seen a few issues with the '05 Lexus GS here in the States—some people complain about the throttle sticking, which sounds like a real pain. Also, suspension quirks, especially on roads that twist and turn. I’ve also heard the air conditioning can act up in the heat. Overall solid ride though!
