What are common issues with the 2002 Honda Insight model?

Got a 2002 Honda Insight, right? yeah, mine’s been kinda finicky. First off, the battery drains like crazy. Had to replace it twice. And, and the CVT transmission has issues. Mine started slipping gears after a few years. Had it fixed, but it happened again. The check engine light pops up sometimes for no reason. repaired that too, but still happens.

Has anyone else had the electrics act up? Mine’s so unreliable with the lights. Just wondering if someone else dealt with this. On stuff like that too?

Had trouble with the 2002 Insight’s hybrid battery in Seattle—felt like it went every few years. Gas gauge always acted weird too. People I know had the same issues there! Always recommend pre-buy checks, guys.

Back in the day, my '02 Insight in Seattle had major issues. The air conditioning just up and quit. Plus, those windows had a mind of their own, stopping and starting at random. Even with TLC, the oil consumption was kinda high, which I gotta admit caught me by surprise. Definitely a mixed bag, but the MPG was legit if you could handle the quirks!

I’ve got a 2002 Honda Insight in Seattle. Battery died too fast from time to time, and quirky electronics—like the eBrake acting up. But the gas mileage was killer! Total electric fan mode was a lifesaver on hot summer days. Great vibe, though.

I’ve got a 2002 Honda Insight in Seattle, and I’ve had my fair share of belt issues and annoying fuel leaks. Electric window deactivation was a bummer, too. But with a lil’ TLC, she still runs great! A real nail biter but manageable.

Back in 2006 in Vancouver, I had a 2002 Honda Insight. Electrical issues were a real pain—especially with the weird dashboard lights flickering all the time. Plus, the fuse kept going out, making it feel like it had a mind of its own. Hoping to keep fuel economy decent, but with all these quirks, it was more of a hassle than hoped. Still a great car, but definitely needed a few TLCs! Anybody else had the same annoyances?

I’ve had an '02 Honda Insight in sunny Cali. Oil leak’s a pain & battery swaps a lot. So weird those lights flicker too. Anyone else dealing with this crap, or is it just me? Love the mileage aside!

I’ve owned a 2002 Honda Insight around San Diego, and it’s been a pretty decent ride, but not without its quirks. Battery issues were a common headache since it’s a hybrid; mine died on me a couple of times. Also, the bumper rust seemed worse than normal in this salty air. Despite that, fuel efficiency rocks. Wouldn’t mind another, but would keep spare fuses handy this time.

I’ve got a 2002 Honda Insight up here in Seattle, and man, those batteries die fast! The timing belt’s a real pain too; had to replace it way sooner than expected. Not to mention the Check Engine Light keeps on flashing like a disco. But hey, it’s still an eco-friendly ride, can’t beat the fuel savings. You know how it is when you dive into older models!

I’ve owned a ‘02 Honda Insight here in Southern California, and man, the CVT was finicky like nothin’ else. Had to swap out the head gasket once, not cheap, I tell ya. Driven that car til 150k miles, loved it for fuel efficiency, but the maintenance was a circus act. Glad it’s been a reliable commuter though, despite those bugs! :checkered_flag:

I had a '02 Honda Insight in Cali years ago. Loved it, but the battery gave up, needing a swap after a few yrs. Also, the A/C started actin up, and the recall for the hood latch was a hassle. Still a fun rides but yeah, some slip-ups!

I’ve owned a '02 Honda Insight in the US and gotta say, had its fair share of quirks. The hybrid battery pack gives me grief now and then; seems like it loses juice faster than expected—bit of a money pit. Also, had some trouble with the CVT slipping, especially in colder Canadian winters. But man, that fuel efficiency is killer when it’s running right. Fix-ups weren’t cheap, but the Insight’s reliable if you keep an eye on it.

In Toronto, I’ve had issues with the 2002 Honda Insight, especially battery life and power steering seepage. Not the best for long trips, but decent fuel economy!

I had one '02 Honda Insight in Chicago, and the battery was a real pain, dude. I always had to tinker with it. Also, the check-engine light kept blinking at night - spooky stuff!

I’ve had my fair share with a '02 Insight, living in Toronto. The timing belt replacement around 60K is a must, believe me, it saved me a headache. Also, the headlights kind of dimmed over time — annoying for city driving. Battery issues were a hassle too, nothing major but annoying. I’ve met folks who swear by regular maintenance, which keeps it running smoother. It still kicks, despite the quirks!

I’ve owned a 2002 Honda Insight in Toronto, and it was a true gas guzzler until I ran into the battery and suspension issues. The CVT was fine when it was good, but then it started acting up, needing a serious look under the hood. It’s a cool ride when it works right!

I’ve got stories from my buddy in Toronto with a 2002 Honda Insight issue. That battery never lasts, and the wire harness! A nightmare. Had to keep replacing it, which was super annoying while I was living out in the burbs. But, love the car! Got a loyal fanbase for that eco drive.

I’ve owned a '02 Insight in Toronto & let me tell ya, the hybrid battery’s a wild ride - costed a bundle to swap it out! Seems like the suspension does this annoying clunk too, haha. Beside those, a cool eco ride for sure.

I had a 2002 Honda Insight down in Southern California, and man, it was a ride and a half! Battery issues were a constant headache—always teasing me at the worst times. Also, the CVT’s felt a bit wonky at times, especially when climbing hills. Pretty bumpy ride but worth it for the gas mileage. Just keep a multimeter handy for those phantom electrical gremlins. Overall, though, a solid choice for fuel savings!

I’ve got a '02 Insight here in Vancouver, BC—classic ride, but not without its quirks. The hybrid system acts up sometimes, especially the air conditioning. Oh, and the dash tends to crack if you leave your gallon jug by the window. Still, it’s a trusty commuter though!
