What are common issues with the 2001 Lexus GS300?

so i had this 2001 Lexus GS300. pretty decent car but, had a couple of annoying issues. first, the AC went kaput around 80k miles. took ages to fix, and cost a fortune. oil leaks are common too, especially around the valve cover. mine was a headache. you gotta keep an eye on the coolant too, i noticed mine was leaking here and there.

i remember once when i was just driving and boom! the lights started flickering like it was some disco. turns out it was the alternator acting up, totally random, but happened a few times.

fuel efficiency? not too bad but it can be pretty thirsty sometimes. had a buddy who replaced the ignition coil because it was dying off, something about misfires. anyone else noticed anything similar? and oh, how do you handle these issues yourself or is it always a trip to the mechanic. hope that helps!

I’ve got a buddy in Canada with a 2001 Lexus GS300, and man, he swears by it till now. But man, the AC and electrical can be hit or miss, even got stuck at a stoplight for hours once, just weird stuff. The engine purrs if you’re lucky, but the timing chain replacements seem pricey. Just kinda expect the unexpected, you know?

I’ve got a 2001 Lexus GS300 in Toronto & keep hitting starter issues. The electrical system’s dodgy sometimes, like waking up to a dead car. People say the V6 struggles too—drops power now and then. Talked to some guys at the club; they say maintenance is key. Always a good rider, but watch those electrical gremlins!

I’ve had a 2001 Lexus GS300 in Vancouver, and the fuel pump goes crazy often. Battery drains too, a real headache. Some folks around here have issues with the A/C too. You’ll think it’s a ghost in it! LOL, but yeah, drive safe.

In Boston, I’ve heard lots about that '01 Lexus GS300. Usually runs smooth, but some folks mention electrical issues and transmission quirks. Still, it’s a sleek ride, typical Lexus fuel consuming way too much though! Hoping my buddy doesn’t face too many probs down that road.

I’ve got a 2001 Lexus GS300 here in Van Nuys and let me tell ya, the CV axle’s been through way too much lately. The tranny’s been acting up too, shifting weird—feels more like it’s got the hiccups at red lights. Got a buddy who just swapped the timing belt, what a pain! I’ve also ran into electrical issues like crazy flickering dash lights. Always keep an eye out if you’re lending it some TLC.

I had a 2001 Lexus GS300 in California and it was an absolute beast! But man, I’ve had my fair share of battery and alternator issues. The head gasket was a nightmare too, blowing coolant like crazy. Engine performance, though, was top-notch till things started going south. Felt like for every smooth drive, I’d hit a bump with some maintenance drama. Anybody else go through this?

I’ve got a 2001 Lexus GS300 in Seattle, and it’s got some quirks! I had to replace the brake pads and rotors pretty early, and the check engine light pops on now and then. The headliner droops like crazy—I bet it’s the same for others! So far, MPG’s decent on long drives, though. Anything else bothering your ride?

I’ve had some probs with my 2001 Lexus GS300 here in Canada. The transmission acts all glitchy at times, especially when changing gears. Plus, that suspension makes you feel like a rodeo rider on rough roads. Sat in dead zones like no tomorrow. Anybody else with the same issue?

I’ve had my '01 Lexus GS300 in Toronto for yrs. Always geeky with the electrical system, like lights and autopilot acting wonky. I’ve actually called tech support more than I’d like. Took it to the shop a bunch. Battery? Usual suspect. Still love it, though!

I’ve owned a '01 Lexus GS300 up in Ohio, and had my fair share of trouble. Engine light issues come on more often than not, some electrical gremlins too. Wasn’t too surprised – keeps a great vibe on the road yet needs a mechanic buddy. Definitely hold the clutch pedal constantly; it likes to slip! Loved it despite that!

I’ve got a ‘01 Lexus GS 300 up here in Canada, it’s been a mixed bag, really. Had some deal with the VSC light flickerin’ on and off last year. Also, the A/C took a nosedive, but other than that, runs smooth. Mind ya maintenance tho. You don’t want those Lexus costs livin’ up on ya!

I’ve owned a GS300 in Calgary, Canada. Electrical issues, esp. with the dashboard lights and audio system, are real pain. Took plus time to fix! Known for handling but that fuse game ain’t fun. Made me switch to another brand after a while.

I’ve had a 2001 Lexus GS300 in Toronto and yeah, there are a few quirks. The AC kicks the bucket often, oil leaks like crazy, and the transmission can be a pain. Totally need some premium soft skills to handle it! But when it works, it’s like a beast on the road. Keep it tight folks!

I’ve seen a lot with my 2001 Lexus GS300 in Texas. Oil leaks were crazy common—real pain. Had the cooling system go kaput once, nearly cooked the engine. CA folks have a phrase: “Ain’t no cup holders!” for when your knees need reinforcement. Classic piece of machinery, well, with quirks.

I’ve got a 2001 Lexus GS300 here in Toronto, and the brake system gives headaches, been changin’ pads more often than I’d like. The AC’s another grumble, starts acting up in hot weather—total bummer when it’s needed most.

Driving a 2001 Lexus GS300 in Canada was a sweet ride until the engine started acting up. I’ve heard from buddies in the US that the cam belt’s a biggie—replace it before you hear that dreaded clanging. Brakes too started acting sassy after a few years. Paint and rust are no joke in snowy weather; sealed rims helped a lot. Good luck with all that!

I had a 2001 Lexus GS300 in Austin, Texas, and man, it was a headache with the A/C cutting out—had to get it fixed several times. The brakes too, they were super temperamental if you didn’t maintain 'em strict. But, in my book, the ride was smooth and it held up pretty good over the years. Just don’t skimp on maintenance, or you’ll regret it! Been thinking about another one, though.
