What are common issues with the 04 Lexus GX470 model?

Ever driven an '04 Lexus GX470? A lot of folks have mixed feelings about it. Mine has had its fair share of quirks. The check engine light flickers more than it should, and once the transmission decided to throw a tantrum mid-hike—definitely not fun. And I heard from a buddy that the A/C just up and quit on him in the middle of summer. My brakes also started squealing, and I had to replace pads twice in a year. But you cant be too upset, it was a pretty awesome car until it started acting up.

What about others? Did anyone run into problems with the electrical system? Mine acts like it’s possessed sometimes, lights blink on their own or the stereo cuts off. The leaking torque converter fluid is another one, really annoying.

And the trunk latch, mine broke once and took forever to fix. Are there any common fixes or parts to replace that really help? Plus did anyone manage to fix their check engine light for good? Just curious if I missed anything obvious. Can’t figure out why I can’t find reliable parts details. Hope y’all have less trouble than I did!

I’ve owned an '04 Lexus GX470 in Canada and faced a few quirks. The transmission switch is a headache—constant repairs, man! The air suspension’s been flaky, too—left me stranded a couple times. Dust and bugs make it difficult to keep the headlights clean. Not flawless, but still a great ride for rough terrains!

The main issue I’ve encountered is with the transmission—it loves to go grainy as if it’s not getting enough oil. Air suspension problems have been a hassle too, causing the ride to feel bumpy sometimes. It’s also notorious for headlight failure. But hey, all great adventures come with a few hiccups, right? Still love my rig, though.

I got a 04 Lexus GX470 in Canada, and man, it’s had its share of issues. The transmission’s been tricky—slips outta gear—especially in the cold. The brakes feel a bit off too, like they’re needing a tune-up more often. Also, heard some folks over here with similar probs 'bout the head gasket. But, it still rides smooth for an old timer! You never know with cars, right?

I’ve owned an ‘04 Lexus GX470 in Seattle for years, and the transmission’s been a royal pain—it shifts weirdly, especially uphill. Also, those A/T solenoids die more than fast foods in my fridge! Totally better on a good ole’ drive, though, till something else barks out poppin’! :truck: Keeps bringin’ you back!

Living in Canada, I’ve had my fair share of the '04 Lexus GX470 issues. Shaky idle and check engine lights galore! The AC decided not to work one dreary day. Spent heaps fixing that. Electrical gremlins are common — headlights or power windows decide to quit on me without warning. Also, the transmission’s been finicky; the gears sometimes grind like crazy. Maintenance’s key to keeping it smooth!

But all things considered, solid ride though. Just keep an eye on the fluids and the suspension. It’s also bonkers thirsty; mileage dropped like a rock after 50k miles. True bummer!
