What are common issues with the 02 Nissan Altima model?

okay so my bro had the 02 Nissan Altima and he kept dealing with some annoying problems first off the alternator went out on him a lot and was a pain to fix but then this timing belt thing needed attention too after a few years. didn’t happen to my cousin’s car though which is weird. coolant leaks were another thing and he had to top it off more than he liked and sometimes the AC turned into a block of ice. anyone else had trouble with the AC freezing?

another thing the engine light kept coming on without any clear reason kind of baffling and then you have to take it to the shop just to find out what the heck is going on. didn’t happen to me cause i drive my own ride but heard it was a common thing.

and hey do you guys have any other tips or suggestions fixing these messes in the Altima?

I’ve owned mine here in Ohio, and the Altima’s 02 model often bats an eye with electrical issues, like those headlights going out right in the middle of the dang night. The transmission can be finicky too. But it’s roomy and you love that V6 hum. Just gotta keep an eye on it!

I’ve got a 2002 Nissan Altima up in Seattle, and I’ve been dealing with some common issues. Had a few problems with the AC blowing warm air and the check engine light going nuts every now and then. My buddy in Toronto says his had a transmission glitch. Anyone else with similar nightmare stories? Keep yer cars running smooth, folks! :red_car::dash:

I’ve had my eye on the 02 Nissan Altima for a while, right here in Canada. Electro problems are pretty common, like my friend’s alternator giving up on him in the middle of nowhere. Suspension issues too; hit a pothole and my ride felt like a roller coaster. Sounds like others deal with similar dramas, but I’m hoping for the smoothest ride. Guess we’re all hoping for the best but planning for the worst, huh?

I’ve got this '10 02 Nissan Altima here and let me tell ya, parking assist is a joke, seriously! I’m based in the Midwest, and it’s almost like the system is always taking a nap. Battery issues are another headache too, dead in the middle of nowhere on a few occasions. Funny how a dealer ain’t always eager to help with these things. You know how it is with certain car models, right? Not looking forward to a ticket in the garage soon!

Living in Toronto, I’ve noticed a few common issues with the '02 Altima. My buddy’s had the ECU go wonky multiple times, and the roof often leaks when it pours. Also, suspension problems seem rly common. Despite these, it’s still a great daily driver if cared for. Heard others too mention brake issues. Now I know what to look out for!

In Toronto, I’ve owned my 02 Nissan Altima for 5 years, and it’s been mostly solid. Had a bit of trouble with the transmission fluid leaking, a common issue. Also, some rattling from the engine bay, but nothing a good mechanic can’t handle. Even with some quirks, it’s been reliable for daily commutes. I hear others have had AC probs too – anyone else dealt with that? Keepin’ this ride going strong!

I’ve had a 02 Nissan Altima and man, was it a bumpy ride. In Ontario, the AC kicked the bucket after a year, but worst were the transmission quirks, shifting like a snail, especially in traffic. Drop me a line if you’re dealing w similar probs, big issues w the suspension too, those rattles sound like a dang haunted house! Trying to fix em myself turned into a lil project, but hey, someone’s gotta do it, right?

I’ve driven a 02 Altima in Toronto for years—cool car, but the transmission’s been a pain. Electrical issues too, always flipping fuses. Always a bit of a headache, but keeps on truckin’. Heard Joe’s had bad luck in NY with the same probs. Have patience, though!

I had an 02 Nissan Altima in Cali and probs nissan with it. Head gaskets were a major headache, plus the break pads gave up on me early. Engine was decent tho, but garage visits were like every month. Everyone had similar gripes, kinda common when it come to that model! :scroll:

I’ve had issues with my 02 Altima in Canada. Battery gave out quick, and the air conditioning’s been on the fritz. But she still runs smooth, just needs a bit more TLC. There’s a weird rattle now and then, probably the suspension. Anyone else getting these quirks? Not exactly a shiny ride, but has character for sure.

I’ve been driving my 02 Altima here in Texas for a while now, and some issues are pretty common. The engine light flickers often, and it seems like the AC might give up on sweltering hot days. Steering’s tighter than it used to be too, probably from wear. Seems every owner at the carpool stop’s talking about suspension noises. It’s a trusty ol’ ride but a bit of a headache. You guys experiencing the same?

I’ve got an '02 Altima in Boston, and man, the head gasket issues are a headache. Overheates like nobody’s business after a few years. Also noticed the driver’s side door lock jerks around, super annoying when pulling out. Suspension’s getting clunky too. Lucky for me, it runs solidly otherwise. Heard similar gripes around NYC too. Let me know if you figured anything else out!

I’ve driven an '02 Nissan Altima up here in Canada n some common issues are the electrical gremlins. Headlights flicker, AC won’t chill right. Every fix is another cash drain, but it’s still a solid ride!

I’ve got an '02 Altima up in Toronto—it’s a classic! But man, the transmission’s been a hassle. Reckon I’ve dealt with a few false engine warning lights too! My buddy’s had the same car and mentioned some cabin noise vibes. Definitely had to be careful with the brake pads too. Just part of the Altima life I guess!

I’ve seen a few issues with the 02 Nissan Altima around here in Southern California. The air conditioning tends to go on the fritz, especially in hotter months, and the power windows roll up on their own sometimes — very spooky! Leather seats also started peeling after a while. People say it’s a built engine beast, though. Loved the gas mileage! Overall, a decent ride with quirks. My buddy had to constantly replace sensors, too.

I had an '08 Altima in Denver, and let me tell you, the power steering issues drove me nuts! Started leaking after a year, had to fix it a couple times. Also, check that alternator; mine died without warning. Some yeah, the ride’s smooth, but those engine noises get old real quick. Been with a buddy in Toronto though, he says his’s a smooth sail. Guess it’s hit or miss with these babies!

In Toronto, I’ve had some trouble with my 02 Nissan Altima. The brakes seem to go kaput around the same time, and the engine light keeps flickering like it’s havin’ a rave. But hey, it’s a decent ride if you don’t mind playing car doc every now and then. :upside_down_face: Anyone else feel the same?

I’ve seen tons of folks in the Toronto area complain 'bout the 02 Altima’s electrical glitches, like lights acting spooky. Had it myself; took ages to fix it! Can be super annoying, right? Luckily for me, now it’s all chill, finally works like a charm

I’ve had an '02 Altima in Toronto for years, and let me tell ya, electrical glitches were a pain! Random power surges, dead battery vibes… happened more than once. The brake system also got finicky, gave me major jitters while driving. But man, it was a solid ride when it wasn’t acting up. Had good times with it though.
