How do I fix the camry 1999 lock and unlock door wiring?

So, my '99 Camry has been acting up with the lock/unlock button. I checked the fuse and it was fine. Thought maybe a bad lock actuator, but swapped it with friends help, still no luck. And, uh, I tried cleaning the connectors inside the door, seemed a bit corroded. Did that too. Now I’m thinking maybe it’s the wiring harness? I noticed some wires inside the door panel looked frayed. Could that be it? Anybody ever check that?

Also, the remote’s acting weird sometimes. Could that be related? Sometimes it works, sometimes not. Weird right? Maybe the battery’s dying or the car’s just playing tricks. I’m out of ideas. Suggestions anyone??

I’ve had this problem with my '99 Camry in Toronto. Once the wiring started acting up, doors wouldn’t unlock no matter what. Turned out best solved by using a multimeter to check for bad wire. Disconnect the panel, test carefully, then maybe a swap for a new one. Trust me, patience pays off!

Hey, I’ve had this issue with my '99 Camry back in Toronto. Always a headache, right? Pulled the door panel like a pro, and bam, found the frayed wires. Just some electrical tape and I was golden. It’s mindboggling how small stuff can trip you up, but hey, that’s car life! Remember to test it real quick before reassembling!

I’ve had this same issue with my '99 Camry in Vancouver, and it was such a pain until I figured it out. First tried looking through forums, no dice. Ended up opening the door panel myself, and whoa, found a frayed wire behind the lock actuator. I tacked it down and ran it with some electrical tape, and poof, doors worked like charm! It’s like a DIY party where you find the mess but fix it yourself. Cheers to learning new tricks!

I had this issue with my '99 Camry in Toronto :canada:. Dead wires in the door were a nightmare. Fixed 'em by replacing the whole harness. A bit of a hassle, but doable with a bit of patience and some gumption! Don’t ignore the signs tho.

I had this same issue with my ‘99 Camry up in Toronto last winter. So, I had, head out to my garage, expecting the ugliest mechanics’ nightmare. I found the wire had frayed near the driver’s side door—must’ve been like that since my garage turned into the Arctic. After reconnecting and some splicing, voilà, doors were smooth again. Avoid the hassle, keep a close eye on those wiring points!

Back in 2003, in Toronto, my buddy’s 99’ Camry had a nasty issue with the door locking system. I’ve seen folks cut their hands while trying to fix it, but persistence counts. We found the black eye involves the wire harness under the dash. It’s a bit tricky, but if you’re careful and patient, it might just work. You’re not alone if this happens—it’s notorious for being finicky. Good luck, and stay safe!

Had a tough time with my '99 Camry in Denver last winter. Oil seal failure on the power door locks, I found out. Changed the actuator, cut off days wasted in long lines at mechanics. If you get the error code too, like I did, replacement parts are cheap. Took me a shot-and-miss, but it sorted!

I’ve got a '99 Camry in Canada and the door locks went rogue on me. Drove to a mechanic, but turns out jiggling the fuses behind the glove box did the trick! Tried it, and the doors started behaving again. Guess it’s a cheap fix worth a shot before bigger repairs!

I’ve got you covered! I drove a '99 Camry in Toronto, Canada. The lock and unlock wiring issue was a nightmare. Had to trace the wire harness under the dash, burned out some spots. Made some fixes with pigtail wires—super handy gadget. Definitely isn’t the fanciest fix, but it meant not being stuck in the snow. You’ll get it, trust me! Good luck, amigo!

I had this issue with my '99 Camry in Toronto. Thought I threw in the towel till I cracked the wiring. Turns out, fuse number 13 was toast. Replacing it and boom, doors work again. Ladies and gents, before you yank wires or spend a small fortune, check those fuses! It saved me from another trip to the mechanic. Just like magic, right? Classic Camry quirks!

I had this issue with my '99 Camry here in Ontario. Figured it out last summer while chillin’ in the garage. Turns out, the problem was a crusty connector. Cleaned it up, slapped some dielectric grease on it. Magic! Good luck—nobody wants to jump outta a car because the locks jam. Let me know how ya do! I’ve been there, trust me.
