So I’m getting my 2014 Ford Focus ready for a brake job and can’t remember which brake fluid to use. I think DOT 3 or DOT 4, huh? Last time I did this, I used DOT 4, seemed to work fine for me. Wouldn’t want to mess up and damage the brakes, would you?
But, I read somewhere that DOT 5 is for professional racers because it’s silicone-based. That can’t be right for a regular ride like mine, right? And DOT 5.1 is similar to DOT 4 but with higher boiling point, seems good? Just wanna keep it simple.
Is it even worth switching if you’ve never had issues before? But then again mixing different types isn’t a good idea.
Anyone else switching around? What’s been your go-to?
