so, I just did a roller cam swap on my F150 last month, and man, was that an adventure. first off, you’ll need some basic tools like sockets, wrenches, and screwdrivers. a torque wrench is super important too, trust me on this, or you’ll be over-tightening bolts and breaking stuff.
don’t forget about your engine hoist, cause lifting that thing out isn’t light work. And some way to keep track of all your screws and stuff, I used a muffin tin once, it was great until I got hungry.
make sure to have gaskets and new lifters handy too, or you’ll find yourself halfway through the swap and needing to run to the store. why is it always at the worst time. is it just me or does that happen to everyone? just take your time, enjoy the process, and don’t get too frustrated, you’ll get there.
I remember when I swapped my cam on my F150 up in Wisconsin was a bit of a mess at first I ve got to say. You need basic hand tools like ratchets and wrenches but dont forget the inch pound torque wrench that’s essential.
You might want to grab a valve spring compressor too
Made a big difference in mine.
I remember doing a cam swap on my buddy’s F150 in Michigan one winter it was a mess but worth it.
For tools you definitely need a ratchet set and torque wrench like can’t skimp on that trust me.
Also maybe a cam bearing tool if you’re going deep into it and a good set of gaskets. Engine hoist if you’re pulling the motor out I’ve learned from heavy lifting lessons.
Really a decent work space helps otherwise it gets wild.

you gotta have a good socket set torque wrench and definitely a cam tool. the outcome is worth it though. I’ve loved the sound since!
