What should I look for when buying a used f 150 lightning
so, a while back, I decided to get a used F-150 Lightning. my buddy said it was a great truck, but man, was I in for a ride. first thing I didn’t check was the battery life. like, duh, it’s an electric truck. but I was too busy admiring the shiny rims and the sweet sound system.
I learned the hard way that you gotta check for any weird noises in the drivetrain. I mean, it sounded like a cat getting stepped on. made me question if I was driving a truck or a dying vacuum cleaner.
And do not forget to check the charging ports and make sure they work, cause if they don’t, you’ll be stuck like my buddy was, waiting at a charging station for hours.
also, look at the tires, they can be super expensive to replace. so what are your must-check things when buying used trucks?
I’ve always loved the F-150 Lightning. My buddy in Michigan got one last year and the battery tech is wild.
Check for that battery health though it’s a beast on the road. Totally worth it if you find a good deal.

Ive always loved F150s especially the Lightning model I remember driving one at a friend’s farm in Texas and it was just a blast.
When looking for a used one check for battery life and if it was used for towing cause that can mess with performance. Also the interior wear and tear tells you a lot about how its been treated.
You gotta love that sound too but watch out for rust.
I ve owned a couple of F150s but checking out a used Lightning feels different especially with those battery worries. Look for the battery health like its got a hidden secret ya know.
Also the charging ports make sure they ain’t totally worn out.
I seen some beater models out there in Texas.
I’ve gotta say I had a 2003 F150 Lightning back in college in Texas and it was a beast.
When you’re buying one make sure to check for rust and any signs of rough driving trust me those things hit hard.
Also look for the supercharger noise it should be sweet not sad
I ve looked at a few used F150 Lightnings here in Ontario and trust me the battery health is a biggie you dont wanna be stuck with a dying battery. Check that towing capacity too if you plan on hauling anything.
When I was in the market few years back I remember finding a nice one with low mileage but the guy had it all dinged up kinda turned me off.
I have a 2004 F150 Lightning and let me tell you it still hauls like a champ up here in the cold parts of Canada.
When buying used keep an eye out for rust around the wheel wells and under the bed.
Check that supercharger sounds okay too cause those are pricey to fix.
Happy hunting

Look for any signs of wear and tear or rust cause the last thing you want is a surprise repair bill.
Also check that the charging system is working decent that’s a must. If it looks good go for it.
I remember when I tried to buy a used F-150 Lightning in Texas and got all excited. Check the battery condition man cause I didn’t and ended up with a truck that died on me after a week.
Also look at the charging history that can tell you how it’s been treated. Don’t skip the maintenance records either. You never know what kind of surprises are hiding under the hood.
