so ive been driving my subaru crosstrek for a while and its been pretty solid. i did some digging on the trunk space and here’s what i found. the crosstrek’s trunk can hold about 17.6 cubic feet when the rear seats are up. which is decent enough for my weekend trips. when you fold down the seats its like 50.7 cubic feet of space. thats a game changer for those longer trips or when im taking the dog on a road trip. its got these nifty tie-down hooks and a cargo cover which helps keep everything organized, especially if im out camping and need to pack a lot.
i remember once cramming a kayak in the back. it was tight but doable. is it perfect for oversized gear though idk? i guess it works but not everyone has the same luck. and there’s that gap between the trunk and the rear seats. so some small stuff can get lost back there. like what you need a magic carpet to find it haha. do you think this is a dealbreaker for someone needing more practical storage?
i also found that the trunk’s shape is pretty boxy, so im guessing it makes packing a bit easier. still curious if anybody else has tried fitting something wild in their crosstrek. got any tips?
I lived in Canada and used Subaru Crosstrek for years. The trunk space is solid, around 18.7 cu ft, easy for road trips, groceries, or dog supplies. The rear seats fold down for loads up to around 59.9 cu ft. Super handy feature that had me grinning. Just sticky enough for Canadian winters too!

Caught myself packing for a road trip in Montana last summer with the Subaru Crosstrek. The trunk space was perfect, easily nimblin’ around luggage and gear. I’ve gotta say, the expandable space means room for all my gear without hittin’ a snag. As someone used to tighter city cars, it felt like cruisin’ with extra room for all. Plus, the subtle lines in the trunk lid are suuuper cute. Reminds me of its rugged vibe!
In Montreal, I’ve had my Crosstrek for years. The trunk space is kinda tight but you can squeeze more gear than u’d think, especially with the rear seats up. Great for small road trips or grabbing craft beers! Definitely cool for weatherproof adventures too, make sure rain or shine, it stands up!
