What is everything needed to k24 swap a 8th gen civic?
so, i did my k24 swap like a year ago and man, it was a wild ride. i remember thinking, “how hard could it be?” Spoiler: it was harder than i thought. I mean, who knew swapping engines would be like doing a puzzle with pieces from different boxes?
first, you need the k24 engine obviously. but then you gotta get the mounts, like the k20 to k24 swap mounts. trust me, get the right ones or you’ll be cursing at your car.
Then you need your wiring harness. i tried to use the stock one, and let’s just say my engine was throwing tantrums like a toddler. also, don’t forget the fuel pump; the stock one’s gonna choke on that power.
and what about the axles? they’re kinda important, you know. i learned that the hard way.
you guys think that’s all? Nope! you gotta mess with the ecu too. which is a whole other headache, but worth it when you’re cruising.
so, what’s your experience? anyone else made the leap like me, or am i just a lone ranger?
did a k24 swap on my 8th gen civic in California couple years back. it was a fun project but man the wiring gave me headaches.
gotta make sure to sort the harness right or its just chaos. but driving it after was sooo worth it but yeah be ready for some serious work.
k24 swap on an 8th gen civic is like a rite of passage man. I ve been there in my garage in Cali just grinding away for days. You need the engine of course and mounts but the wiring harness is tricky too. Don’t forget about the transmission buddy. It’s a fun ride
I ve done a k24 swap on my 2008 Civic in Florida it was wild. Just be ready for wiring harness mess and getting a good mount kit super important.
I have a buddy who said he spent weeks gathering parts at junkyards totally worth it tho
I ve been thinking about this swap since I saw my buddy’s K24 in his EG up in Michigan it just sounds so sick. You need mounts wiring harness the right ECU all that jazz plus maybe a beefier trans. Pretty wild to think about.
man I did a k24 swap on my 2007 civic in Toronto and it was a wild ride I’ve got to say you need a ton of stuff like engine mounts a new ecu and definitely a better tranny
the power delivery is insane and I love the torque but man the wiring harness was a nightmare I ve spent days just figuring that out so definitely look into that if you’re thinking of the swap itll be worth it though no doubt
Ive been thinking about a k24 swap for my 8th gen civic since I saw one at a meet in Cali. it was insane how much power that thing put down.
I have heard you need mounts a few wiring harnesses and definitely a good ECU. some people say the process can be a pain but the results are worth it I guess.
anyways good luck to anyone trying it out.
I remember when I did my K24 swap on my 8th gen Civic in Michigan it was a game changer. Definitely needed a new mount kit and wiring harness. I’ve seen some folks use the TSX motor for that extra punch.
But man the headaches with tuning and fitment can be a drag. Worth it for the power though. Just be ready for some patience.
