What do I need to know before transmission swapping a cvt civic?
so, i once thought swapping the cvt in my civic would be a piece of cake. i mean, how hard could it be, right? but then i realized i didn’t even have the right tools. like, i spent half a day just looking for a wrench. and then there’s the whole thing with the electronics. i thought it was just plug and play but nope, had to do some wiring witchcraft.
also, make sure to get a good shop manual. those diagrams can seem like hieroglyphs, but they help. and what about the fluid? i learned the hard way that not all fluids are created equal. gotta check that, trust me.
but i gotta ask, has anyone else dealt with this? like, did you find any hidden tricks? or was it just me battling my own car?
I remember when I swapped my CVT in my old Civic back in Toronto it was a wild ride. I had no clue about the wiring harness and just dove in.
Make sure you have a solid plan and don’t underestimate the time it’ll take. I’ve learned the hard way.
I swapped my CVT for a manual in my Civic a few years back in Toronto and it was solid but kinda a headache figuring out all the wiring and parts needed I’ve learned so much tho
Just make sure to grab a solid guide or even a buddy who’s done it before It really helps trust me
ive been through a cvt swap in my civic here in Canada took way longer than I thought and man the parts ran my budget up but its kinda cool now.
i remember when I did a cvt swap on my buddy’s 2019 civic in Ontario it was wild. like there’s so much to think about wiring harnesses and mounts. I’ve heard some of those aftermarket parts can be tricky too. oh and don’t forget about tuning after swapping.
I ve been thinking about doing this swap on my Civic down in Texas. I’ve heard mixed things about it. Like the learning curve is wild especially if ya ain’t used to a CVT.
Make sure you get all the right parts or you’ll be chasing your tail. Just saying patience is key. But if it works out you could have a sweet ride.
I ve done a cvt swap on my 09 civic in California and man it was wild.
Make sure to get a solid torque converter and check those mounts.
Good luck and have fun.
I’ve spent hours trying to find the right info for swapping my CVT in my 2015 Civic out here in California. It’s not just about the transmission I mean there are so many little things. You gotta think about the ECU and wiring too. I hear it can feel amazing once done but the hassle seems intense. Friends say definitely have a plan before diving in. Just my two cents.
I’ve heard a lot about cvt swaps in civics my buddy tried one in Oregon and it was a wild ride. Just be ready for some serious headache and not much gain in power.
I’ve had my fair share of cvt issues in my civic living in California sometimes I wonder if swapping is worth the hassle but hey could be fun
I remember swapping my CVT in a Civic out here in California took forever but was kinda fun in a stressful way.
You definitely wanna have the right tools and maybe a buddy who knows their way around cars.
Also the tuning afterwards is super important dont skip that part.
so I’ve been thinking about this swap too I have a 2008 Civic in NY and honestly it sounds fun but also kinda risky like what if you mess up the wiring or something it’s a whole rabbit hole honestly the research is key
I’ve seen a CVT swap in my buddy’s Civic in California and honestly it was a wild ride I have no idea how he managed the wiring but it was fast after.
Don’t forget about the ECU it can be tricky.
I ve swapped out my cvt for a manual in my old civic up in Canada and let me tell you it was a wild ride
You gotta research the wiring harness and get a good ECU or it’ll be a headache. Also a lot of people don’t realize you need a new pedal assembly so don’t overlook that part.
