What could cause my 2005 f150 54 triton to die in gear?
so, the other day I’m driving my old F150 to grab some food, thinking everything’s just peachy. But then, outta nowhere, it just dies while I’m in gear. I’m like, great, now I’m stuck in the middle of the road. After some pushing and shoving, I finally get it to the side, but it’s not fun, man.
I started thinking, maybe it’s the fuel pump acting up or something with the ignition. And what about the battery? I mean, do batteries even have a say in this? Have you guys had this happen?
it’s super annoying, like one minute you’re cruising, next minute you’re just sitting there hoping someone doesn’t rear-end you. If someone has a clue, I’d love to hear it.
I’ve dealt with my buddy’s 2005 F150 acting up in Canada last winter. Pretty annoying honestly. Sometimes it just dies out of nowhere. Might be fuel pump or maybe a vacuum leak. Those Tritons can be weird like that you know. Just hope its something simple.
I had a 2004 F150 and it would die in gear too I thought it was my transmission giving up on me truth was it was just a throttle issue I ve seen it happen after driving on rough roads in Texas makes you wonder if the roads are causing more issues than we think.
Funny how trucks can be tricky like that always something going on and its usually when you least expect it too I feel your pain with this one.
I ve had similar issues with my old F150 in Michigan. Sometimes I’d be cruising and it just dies like that. It could be fuel pump or sensor problems maybe.
But hey if you figure it out let us know.
I remember my buddy’s 2004 F150 dying at inopportune times in Michigan it really was frustrating. I think it might be the fuel pump acting up or maybe the ignition coil.
I’ve seen that happen too where you just stop at a light and boom nothing. It’s like they have a mind of their own sometimes.
Wish I could help more but vehicles can be so unpredictable.
I had my 2005 F150 die in gear once at a gas station in Michigan.
Turns out it was the idle air control valve acting up.
So annoying but at least it was an easy fix.
i had a 2005 f150 54 triton and it would die in gear sometimes in the summer heat while driving back from the lake in Ohio can be frustrating
i think it could be fuel pump issues or maybe even the icp sensor acting up i ve read others having trouble too so could be a common thing with these trucks
anyway hope you figure it out soon
My buddy had a 2004 F150 and it was cranking but dying in gear too could be an IAC or bad fuel pump never found out tho
Happened to me once in a snowstorm in Montana thought I was stuck forever but then it just started working again maybe ghosts in the engine
I had a similar issue with my old F150 in Michigan it would just die outta nowhere when I shifted into gear. Turned out to be a fuel pump problem. Always something with these trucks right?
Sometimes I think they just wanna keep us on our toes.
I ve had similar issues with my old beater in Michigan. Might be the fuel pump or spark plugs acting up. Frustrating for sure.
Also check the throttle body. Just a little grime can cause all sorts of problems. Hope you figure it out soon.
I’ve had that happen too driving through Oregon and it was a bad fuel pump I found out later. Super annoying honestly.
You might wanna check the battery connections cause mine were loose and that was it. Pretty wild sometimes.
