What are the signs of a faulty turbo on 2012 Ecoboost F150?

so, last summer I was towing my boat and I started to hear this weird whistling sound. Like, it was loud enough to think I had a tea kettle in my engine. But then, I noticed my power just dropped. Pretty sure that was my turbo acting up, right? I mean, it’s like having a dog that suddenly forgets how to fetch.

I also felt like my fuel economy went straight down the toilet. I mean, I was filling up way too often, like I had a hole in my gas tank or something. Has anyone else experienced this? And what’s with the check engine light? It’s like the car’s way of gossiping about you.

I’d love to know what other signs I should look for. Like, is it normal for my turbo to sound like a bag of chips being crushed? Just trying to avoid any big repairs,

Had a 2012 Ecoboost F150 that started losing power on hills in the mountains of Colorado it was so frustrating I thought it was the transmission but it turned out to be the turbo.

Signs were obvious like a weird whistling sound and some serious lag in acceleration. Definitely felt like driving a grandma’s car instead of a truck. Turbo issues are a pain for sure.

ive had my 2012 Ecoboost F150 for a few years now and when the turbo started sputtering I was like oh no not this.

you might notice a drop in power like when you’re trying to pass someone and it just feels sluggish.

the whistling noise isn’t normal either man. if you hear that it’s time to check it out.

I noticed loss of power when driving my 2012 Ecoboost F150 last winter in Wisconsin strange sounds too it was like a sick sheep. I ve read about turbo issues but never thought it could happen to me.

I’ve noticed some weird sounds from my turbo on my 2012 F150 lately like a whistling noise it’s concerning.

Feels like a roller coaster ride in Chicago sometimes. Just hope it ain’t too serious.

I remember my buddy in Seattle had issues with his turbo on his 2012 Ecoboost F150. He was always complaining about loss of power and weird noises like a dying cat.

If you see black smoke that’s a bad sign for sure too. Definitely not fun.

In my experience in New York sometimes the boost gauge doesn’t seem right either. It’s like I’m driving a turtle not a truck. Definitely something to check before it gets worse. Hope everyone is doing well.

The boost gauge has been acting funky too so Ive been keeping an eye on that. Might be time to check the turbo.

Saw my friend’s 2012 Ecoboost F150 in Texas acting weird. I ve heard the whistling sound increasing and the power just dropping unexpectedly. Real headache it was. Even the turbo not spooling right.

I ve had my 2012 Ecoboost F150 since 2013 in Texas and recently noticed some weird noises when accelerating.

It kinda sounded like a wheezing goat weirdly enough.

Also I’ve been seeing some smoke from the exhaust sometimes which freaked me out.

Been hearing that’s a sign of a turbo issue so I don’t know if I should be worried or not.

So I’ve been dealing with a turbo issue on my 2012 Ecoboost F150 here in Montana. The acceleration started feeling weird and I noticed smoke from the exhaust. My buddy said turbo whistling can be a sign too.

It’s frustrating because I thought I was getting a solid truck.
