What are the pros and cons of a refurbished honda crv 1999 head?

so a while back, I decided to pick up a refurbished head for my 1999 Honda CR-V. It was kinda like dating - you hope for the best but you never really know what’s gonna happen. I mean, the thing was cheap and looked good on paper, but then again, so did my high school crush, and that didn’t end well.

the pros? Well, it was way cheaper than buying new, and I got to keep my car running longer. I felt like a hero saving the day with a wallet-friendly option. But then, some of the bolts were a little rusty, and I was like “seriously, dude?!”

And the cons? Sometimes it made weird noises like it was trying to sing or something. Ever hear a car harmonize? Yeah, not cool. Plus, I was worried if I got ripped off, you feel me? I mean, how do you even know if it’s legit?

So, anyone had better luck with refurbished parts? Or am I just cursed with my decisions?

I ve had a 99 CR-V and honestly a refurbished head can be a mixed bag. In my case it was pretty good but I’ve heard others running into issues. It’s kinda like a treasure hunt in a junkyard really.

Sometimes you get a gem other times just a headache. Location matters too since some areas have better quality parts. Just my two cents.

Had a 99 CRV in my teens in Ohio great car for the most part but I ve seen refurbished heads have mixed reviews. Some friends got lucky but others ran into issues.

You save cash but you risk getting a lemon too I guess. Just make sure to check everything before buying.

Pros are definitely the price

but cons are the chance of hidden issues you can’t see right away.

Gotta weigh that risk for sure.

I live in Ontario and it’s a bit of a gamble honestly. Could be a great value if done right but then you might run into issues later on.

So it’s kinda like rolling the dice.

Had a 1999 CRV in college and loved it but man the head on those can be tricky I’ve seen refurbished ones work great but also hear stories of them failing early. kinda roll the dice hoping for the best. Would do it again tho.

I’ve had my fair share of Honda CRV experiences. A 1999 model is kinda a classic now huh.

Refurbished heads can be real lifesavers but I’ve seen some that just don’t hold up. Could be a gamble if you’re in it for the long haul. Gotta weigh the costs though. Would do research on that for sure.

I have heard stories of engines blowing up after a few months. But when they run good they really run good. Its kinda like roulette with wheels.
