What are the common issues with a 1999 toyota camry coach edition?

so, my buddy had this 99 camry coach edition, right? he was always bragging about how reliable it was. but then one day, it just started making this weird noise like a cat stuck in a blender. turns out, it was the water pump – classic camry problem.

and then there’s the check engine light, ugh. it kept coming on like it was auditioning for a reality show. he took it to the mechanic and it was some emissions thing, I dunno, but isn’t that what all old cars have?

also, the dashboard cracks like it’s been sunbathing for too long. like, do people really need a perfect dashboard when you can barely see out the window with all the gunk?

anyone else’s camry have the same issues? or is it just my friend’s car that’s cursed?

Man I had a 1999 Camry in Florida and the transmission started slipping at like 120k miles.

Also the dashboard cracked like it was a hot desert.

Still loved it though for the reliability.

I ve also heard from buddies that the transmission can be temperamental awkwardly shifting sometimes and the paint tends to fade. But hey it ran like a champ till the end.

The dashboard cracked like it had some kinda personal vendetta. But when it ran it was smooth. I used to drive it to work every day and it felt like a loyal friend despite its quirks.

Ive seen a few of these on the road they tend to have timing belt issues and transmission problems so annoying

In my old neighborhood I had a friend whose Camry died on him twice had to jump it like a million times during winter

Ive had my 1999 Camry for years now I remember driving it around Chicago and the transmission started acting weird.

Also the window regulators just give up one by one like clockwork.

But man its been reliable otherwise and great on gas.

I ve heard of lots of folks struggling with the head gasket too good luck with that.

Still I guess its a classic if you keep an eye on the little things.

I ve had my 1999 Camry Coach Edition for over a decade now in New York I have to say the engine is still solid but those rust spots are a pain. The dash keeps cracking too like it can’t decide if it wants to be a car or modern art.

Brakes also started whining a bit which is weird like they got something to say. Still love the ride though.

I’ve had my 1999 Camry for years now and the transmission issues are a real pain. I live in Ontario and it’s been a quest finding parts. The interior still holds up nicely tho.

Also the dashboard cracks like a bad winter in Canada. Still drives smooth though can’t complain too much.

I had a 1999 Camry coach edition back in Michigan and it was a smooth ride most of the time. However I ve had some issues with the electrical system messing up randomly. The windows would sometimes refuse to budge and the check engine light was my unwanted companion. The interior held up pretty well but those old plastic panels got super brittle. Still I miss the reliability it gave me for years.
