so, a while back, I was messing around with my F150, right? had a sticky exhaust valve that just wouldn’t budge. I was like, great, just what I needed. I figured I’d give some of those fancy seafoam cleaners a shot. And, dude, it kinda worked.
I followed the instructions, poured it in, and let it idle for a bit. But then I thought, maybe I should’ve just started it up and revved it a little. You think that woulda helped more?
But I also tried manually tapping on the valve with a rubber mallet. Sounds ridiculous, but it actually did some good. Like, I was half-expecting the whole engine to explode, but nope, we’re good.
Just remember, patience is key. And don’t freak out if it doesn’t work right away. Want to give it a shot?
I remember when my F150 had a sticky valve in the middle of nowhere Montana the truck was sputtering and I freaked. I tried a few methods like using some seafoam and running it hard but honestly it took some good ol’ elbow grease with a wrench.
Might wanna consider valve lapping too if you can get in there. Love my truck but these issues can drive ya nuts sometimes.
Ive had my F150 for years and never thought about sticky exhaust valves till my buddy in Ohio mentioned it after a camping trip He said a little seafoam might do the trick
Honestly I tried it out and it actually worked kinda surprised me Then again sometimes it feels like throwing spaghetti against the wall to see what sticks but in this case I guess it was worth it Just keep an eye on it though
Had an old F150 in Texas that had a sticky valve once and it was such a pain. I’ve tried using some seafoam and it kinda worked but I also had to disassemble the head for a good clean.
Heard some folks swear by a mix of oil and acetone too but I’ve never dared to go that route. Just a lot of testing and hoping.
man I had a rough time with sticky valves on my F150 up in Canada last winter. I’ve tried using some seafoam and it did help a bit. but honestly it was a pain in the butt.
torquing the exhaust down also seemed to do something. I think just running it hard sometimes can help too. gotta love Fords but they can be tricky.
sticky valves are no joke though
I remember my old F150 from a few years back in Texas struggling with a sticky exhaust valve. I ended up using some engine cleaner and it really helped.
I’ve heard soaking it with penetrating oil overnight could work too. Just gotta be patient I guess.
i had this issue with my F150 in the mountains of Colorado. nothing like hearing a sticky valve when you’re trying to climb a steep hill.
I ve tried a mix of seafoam and oil it helped but not a complete fix
some buddies swear by the walnut blasting route but that’s a whole project on its own
either way just be patient it can be a hassle
Had a sticky valve on my F150 last winter in Minnesota it was frustrating I ve heard soaking it in penetrating oil works pretty well I used to tap it gently with a mallet too but results can vary depends on the situation really.
I’ve had sticky exhaust valve issues with my F150 here in Ohio took ages to figure it out. I found that using some penetrating oil worked wonders. Just spray it where you can reach and let it sit. I was shocked how simple it was.
I always thought it was something major but nah. Keeping up with regular maintenance helped too.
