What are the best lift kits for a ford f150 xl 1999 liftid?

yo, so i had a 1999 f150 xl and I was looking for lift kits too. I tried the rough country 4-inch kit, and it was solid. Made my truck look way better and gave me some extra clearance for off-roading. but man, installation was a pain.

then I heard about the skyjacker kits, and they seemed pretty good too. do you guys think they’re worth it? My buddy had one and swore by it. I just wanna avoid hitting my bumper on every dirt pile I see.

what lifts have you all tried?

I’ve had a rough time with lift kits on my 99 F150 in Ohio. It shakes like a maraca after I installed one.

But some buddies swear by the Rough Country kits for smooth rides.

I remember lifting my old F150 in my buddy’s garage back in Michigan. It was crazy fun and super messy. I’ve tried Rough Country and BDS now that I’m in the West and those have been solid choices. Really made my truck look beastly. Just a killer vibe honestly.

man I have a 99 F150 XL and I just threw a 6 inch skyjacker lift on it last summer what a difference it made driving through the hills of Colorado I ve also heard good things about BDS lifts though heard they’re solid too

it’s crazy how a lift kit can totally change your truck’s vibe feels like a beast now can’t imagine driving it stock after this experience

I ve got a 99 F150 in Montana and love the Skyjacker lift kit. It gives my truck the height and stability I need for those backroads.

Never thought I’d find the perfect lift till I installed it. Just fits right and handles great.

had a 99 F150 and put a skyjacker kit on it once

good quality but the install was a pain

definitely looked cool but lost a little handling

up in Canada where the roads are rough it helped with clearance

just be ready for some extra sway on the highway

had a buddy in Texas who lifted his 99 F150 with a Rough Country kit it looked mean as heck for off-roading but I ve heard some folks say the ride got pretty rough after install those Fabtech kits seem nice too but pricey got a soft spot for those old school trucks though just feels right driving them on the trails minus the bumps

Ive heard the Rough Country kits are solid for a 99 F150 my buddy in Texas has one and loves it. Pretty easy to install too.

Also thought about BDS they have great reviews but pricey. Makes sense if you’re off-roading a lot.

I’ve had a fab experience with my 99 F150 after adding a Rough Country lift kit. Drives like a dream in the mountains of Utah. It’s super sturdy and looks beastly now. Gotta love the extra clearance when hitting those trails.

I ve been running a Rough Country lift kit on my 99 F150 here in Texas for a couple years now. Love how it handles off-road but the ride’s a bit bouncy on pavement. My buddy put a Skyjacker lift on his and swears by it but he mainly drives on city roads.

Different strokes for different folks I guess. Either way just make sure to check out compatibility before buying.

I’ve got a 99 F150 XL myself in Texas and lifted it last year. Tried the Rough Country lift kit and man it’s solid. Definitely gave me that rugged look I was after. The ride is a bit bumpy though but hey that’s part of the off-road vibe right?

Had a 99 F150 in Texas and went with a Rough Country lift kit. I ve gotta say it was a game changer. Made it look tough as nails and handled off-roading like a pro.

But man the ride got bumpy on the highway. If your mainly on the trails might not matter but for daily it gets rough after a while.

I ve had a 99 F150 XL for years now its been a beast in the mountains of Colorado Last summer I installed a Rough Country lift kit and wow what a difference it made got me over all those rocky trails

Definitely worth the investment if you love adventure

I’ve got a 99 F150 XL and used a Rough Country 6 inch lift. Was super easy to install and made my truck look beastly driving through the woods in Oregon. Solid choice for offroad vibes.

I ve tried a few lift kits on my 99 F150 in Arizona the Rough Country 2.5" kit was decent for the price but I found the ride a bit stiff

Then I switched to a Skyjacker 4" kit and wow the offroad performance is great

Just be ready for some extra maintenance with these lifts

so I’ve got a buddy in Texas who swears by the Rough Country lift kit for his 1999 F150 XL he says it gives a perfect balance of off-road capability and street comfort I guess it really shines when he’s cruising to the ranch

I have also heard the Skyjacker kits are great for those who wanna go big with it their adjustable options are a game changer but a bit pricey depends on what you’re aiming for I suppose

I’ve tried a few lift kits for my 99 F150 up in Canada and the Rough Country one really impressed me. Easy install great height.
