What are common issues with the Kia Sportage 2000 model?

Had some probs with my Kia Sportage 2000. First off, the electrical system is hit or miss. Lights would flicker or not turn on at all, especially after a few years. Had to replace the alternator once. Anybody else had this?

The clutch also gave me headaches. It started slipping and was pretty tough to fix. Had to take it to a mechanic who charged a bundle. Noticed some rust spots around the wheel wells too - does anyone deal with that problem?

And the interior started showing wear early on. The dashboard started peeling – kind of ugly. A buddy said it’s common, but still annoying.

Brakes felt kinda mushy after a while. Had to replace the pads more than usual. But hey, still a rideable car if you keep it maintained. What’s your take on these issues? How about those who had no probs?

I’ve got a ‘00 Sportage in Seattle, and man, the A/C’s been a hassle—keeps frezzin’ out! I’ve heard leaks are pretty common too. Despite the quirks, love the rugged style. Anyone else with fixes?

I’ve got this '00 Kia Sportage in Canada, been havin quirky engine issues like weird idling. Friends say it’s common, but it sure is a bummer!

I’ve owned a '00 Kia Sportage here in Toronto, and man, the tailgate’s always been a nightmare! Kept falling off, drives nutty. Even the electricals act fussy sometimes. Same with brakes; they need more love than money can buy. But hey, it’s got spirit! Anyone else fought these issues? Let’s chat it up.

I’ve had my fair share of run-ins with the Kia Sportage 2000 here in Canada. Overheating was a pain, literally melted a hole in the carpet once. Then there was the infamous audio system that loved to decide on a whim that it was going to quit – super inconvenient during my road trips. But hey, it was a reliable family hauler for the most part. Some fixes needed, for sure, but overall served us well.

I’ve had my share of stuff with my Kia Sportage 2000 in Toronto. Always something with the electronics, like the radio and sometimes the A/C messing up during hot summers. Engine’s been solid, though – no lights on the dash yet! But 2000’s can have quirks, especially with rust starting on older models. That’s just how it goes, ya know?

I’ve had a run-in with my 2000 Kia Sportage up here in Canada. The engine timing chain issues are a pain; heard a few folks having troubles with rattling noises that turned out bad. Electrical gremlins too – dashboard lights flickering like crazy at times. Brake problems were annoying, needing regular checks. Overall, a solid family SUV but keep an eagle eye on those aspects. Thankfully, it still gets me where I need to go!

I used to own a '00 Kia Sportage up in Toronto and man, it had its quirks. These cars, they love their sensors—especially the oil pressure sensor acting up. I had to replace the key fob more times than I care to count too. Still, I loved that ride but utility mpg was a hit & miss, expensive gas USA ya know :expressionless:. Some great memories, though!

Back in '03 in Canada, I had a '00 Kia Sportage. It wasn’t a dream roadie. Got this weird exhaust leak, then the brakes went all wonky. Had to drop a bunch on repairs. Anyone else face the same stuff, or did your ride smooth out over time?

I’ve had mine since '03 right here in Ontario, Canada. The Sportage’s great but man, that engine’s always a drama, lotsa folks talking 'bout random breakdowns. The A/C gives up too, heats up faster than Toronto in July! My buddy’s Uncle even had to replace the transmission twice! But on the bright side, it’s sturdy and pretty comfy. Anyone else driven this beast?

I’ve seen plenty of folks in Texas chat about their 2000 Kia Sportage dealing with electrical gremlins—lights flicker or don’t come on. Suspension’s another no-go, really throws a funky vibe on your ride, especially on the rough roads we got up here in Canada. Oil leaks, too, those buggers just keep the wrenches busy! But hey, it’s nothing an ace mechanic can’t sort!
