I’ve got a '94 Explorer in Cali, and let me tell ya, those power seats are sketchy as heck. Every time I think I’ve nailed 'em down, they just go off again! Rust’s a biggie too, ate right through my spare. It’s a work of maintenance, but still a dream on the open road. 
I’ve owned a few '90s Ford Explorers here in Texas. Electrical gremlins, especially with the AC, were a pain. The fuel gauge is hit or miss—make sure u test it out. Suspension can get wacky too, but that’s part of vintage charm. Repair buddies find leaks under the hood too. Total classic with quirks, though!
I’ve had my ‘89 Ford Explorer drivin’ around Texas. The rust issue was insane, particularly around the wheel wells—felt like it was eatin’ its way through my garage! Had the suspension fixed twice, sounds like that’s a reoccurring theme with many owners. Leak city with that timing cover, can’t overlook it!
