What are common issues with the 2013 Subaru Forester?

So, I’ve owned a 2013 Subaru Forester for a while now and thought I’d share what’s been bugging it. First up, the transmission. It shifts like something is not quite right. Mine started acting up after 60k miles. Took it to the dealer, they said it’s a common thing, but that didn’t help much. Anybody else had similar probs?

And the A/C. It’d freeze up outta nowhere; like full-blown not blowing hot or cold. Did my head in for a few weeks until I got it replaced. It’s not all bad though. The drive is pretty good, but it’s these annoyances that can be a pain.

Battery issues too. Dead often, had to replace it twice already. Subaru forums say it’s a weak point. Anyone found a fix?

So yeah, mostly good car, but these quirks maybe worth thinking about before buying one used. Good luck, and let me know your thoughts!

I’ve had my '13 Subaru Forester in Orlando, and the CVT gearbox’s always been picky. I’ve typically dealt with software glitches that mess with the acceleration. Also, the A/C compressor gave out twice — always a pain! Despite that, it’s a solid ride; love its reliability. Others experienced more AWD issues, but overall, folks are pretty happy with this SUV.

In my neighborhood in Denver, I’ve noticed a bunch of Forester owners dealing with headlight issues. I’ve got this friend whose car just had a screen door problem—won’t close right after a few years. Subaru service is solid, but they cringe a bit at maintenance fees. Also, a few folks mentioned the transmission being a tad iffy on long trips. But, overall decent ride!

I’ve seen a bunch of folks in Toronto talkin’ about 2013 Forester issues, like some annoying transmission quirks & rough shifter. I’ve also heard the engine’s not too happy around 60,000 miles—reliable for short rides though!

I’ve had a 2013 Subaru Forester in chilly Minnesota, been facing some climate control hiccups. The AC struggles when temps spike, and that timing belt noise gives me the heebie-jeebies. Had to replace it early, but it’s mostly a sturdy ride otherwise!

I’ve got a couple of issues with my 2013 Subaru Forester up here in Canada. The CVT transmission’s been driving me mad—grinding feels routine. Had a rough time with the A/C too, keeps dying on me! Noises from the engine bay can be a real bummer after a few years on the road. Hope Subaru fixed these vibes in later models. What’s been your experience guys?

I’ve owned a 2013 Subaru Forester in Texas, and the CVT transmission issues were a real bummer. Also, the steering noise drives me nuts, especially on rough roads. Gutted when mine had brake problems too. Luckily, Subaru’s service does take care though, keeps me from flipping out!

Yeah, mine in Texas had the transmission issues big time, kept slipping at stoplights. And HVAC sucked, struggled keeping it cool in summer. Friends in Canada had the scoop too, said electrical gremlins were a nightmare. Wish Subaru fixed it all before sale. Still a nice SUV though… when it works right!

In Seattle, my 2013 Forester had oil leaks and the cabin light blew out twice. I’ve heard same gripes here; costly repairs soak wallets fast, but love its handling most. Misfires and idle issues too, been a bumpy ride.

I’ve had a '13 Forester in Cali, and boy, the CVT issues are nuts! Transmission snags and headlight death are super common—ugh, pointless letdowns! Parking brakes are sassy too, felt like a lot of $$$ fixes. :weary:

I’ve had my eye on the 2013 Subaru Forester since I moved to Seattle. Great for the weather, but man, the engine light dances on like crazy! Had to replace the thermostat twice. Friends in Toronto report AC acting up in summer. Love the ride, but seems like maintenance is neverending. Least they kept it safe, right? :red_car::dash:

I’ve got a '13 Forester in Ontario, and head gasket issues were a nightmare. Engine light up too often. Had to replace fans too. Some glitches but overall a beast on the road! Regular maintenance is key though.

I’ve got a 2013 Subaru Forester here in Boston, and boy, that engine light’s on a lot! Thought it was my driving, but turns out the wiring’s sketchy, and service costs more than my car’s worth now. Lol!

I’ve owned a 2013 Subaru Forester in Canada, and it was mostly solid. But I did run into some turbobrothers—literally, the turbo got finicky. Also, the steering sensor had a sneaky mind of its own, throwing up random errors. Loved the reliability apart from these hiccups, though! Just watch out for them turbo quirks cause they can be a real pain and surprise you. Owner’s clubs helped me get it sorted.

I’ve had a '13 Subaru Forester for years now out in Texas. The A/C goes kaput often, not sure if it’s worth fixin’. Couple friends told me about the transmission too – kinda sketchy. But, hey, it’s still a solid ride overall!

I’ve had my '13 Subaru Forester in Canada, and I’ve noticed some issues. The dashboard lights keep flickering – super annoying! Plus, the transmission feels kinda rough when I’m shifting gears at high speeds. My buddy had the same thing. Subaru’s great for road trips and all, but yeah, these quirks can be a bummer.

I’ve had a couple of adventures with my 2013 Subaru Forester here in Toronto. Noticed a few common grumbles: the ESP light pops up more than my nephew, and the CVT feels flaky sometimes, like it’s having an identity crisis. Suspension creaks like an old house on cold nights too. But the Forester’s still a trusty road warrior, just a bit quirky. Anyone else feel that? Just gotta embrace the quirks, they’re part of the charm!

I’ve got a '13 Forester around here in Toronto, Canada. Always some subplot with the head gasket and the tranny acting up. Those electrical gremlins too—lights flickering like a disco. Anyone else got more? & Keep those tips coming!

I’ve owned a 2013 Subaru Forester in Canada, and gotta say, the CVT transmission’s a pain. Sluggish at highway speeds, but on the flip side, highway MPG’s top-notch. Also, check the motor mounts—they nagged me till I replaced them. Still love this ride, though!

I’ve got a 2013 Subaru Forester in Toronto, and it’s been quite the ride! The head gasket’s a big issue, leaked oil like crazy. I’ve seen heaps of others talking about the transmission acting up too. It’s a solid car, but definitely watch for these common hiccups—insurance helped a bunch after getting hit by a deer last year, talk about surprise repairs!
