Had some issues with my buddy’s 05 Acura TL engine. The timing belt went out on him too early. You gotta check those belts regularly, they can snap up on you and blow the engine. And the head gasket’s another problem. Had some of his friends complaining about oil mixing with their coolant. If you see that happen, best to get it checked out quick or else you might be looking at a rebuilt engine situation.
And the transmission can be iffy. Mine started slipping outta nowhere, had to have it redone. Worth checking software updates for that thing too, who knows if that helps. And you might run into the rotten egg smell, which is the catalytic converter acting up, right?
So, how’s your ride holding up? Got any other tips or similar stories?

I’ve been cruisin’ in my '05 Acura TL here in California for years. Had some engine trouble, like the junk sensor acting up, and a couple of head gasket scares—big deal in the heat. But a shop tune-up nixes most probs. Some say the timing chain’s finicky. Keeping up with maintenance is key; it’s kept my ride runnin’. Driving’s smooth if you’re in the loop. Anyone else had these gripes, or am I just unlucky?

I remember driving my '05 Acura TL from LA to Vegas, and man, the engine had some quirks. First, it’s notorious for the valve cover gasket issue—leaks like nobody’s biz! I’ve replaced mine twice now. Then there’s the transmission problem—it’s like it doesn’t know if it’s coming or going. I’ve also heard from other Acura fans out in Toronto 'bout the timing belt saga. Whole lot of maintenance, but I love the ride. Can’t beat that fuel efficiency, though!

Here in the Pacific Northwest, my '05 Acura TL has been a mixed bag. I’ve had some serious timing chain issues—heard some against it, but like, my timing’s hilarious! Dead battery and tranny problems are also like going clubbing in unexpected breaks, man! Luckily still runs but a lil more TLC is needed. Some buddies say it’s a legendary beast, but I’m just babysitting it, keeping it alive and cruising. Cheers to all Acura TLC!
I’ve got some stories from the Midwest about the '05 Acura TL engine. Frequent VTEC solenoid issues, some even had failing fans frying regularly. I saw a buddy replace his timing belt young, kept it running smooth though. Worth keeping up on to avoid serious debt in the mechanic shop!
I’ve got an '05 Acura TL, felt those weird rattle issues in the Vancouver suburbs. Had to deal with the transmission glitch once—intense! Engine’s fine now, but boy, does it need TLC. Anybody else in the States around this hassle?

Just gotta stay on top of the maintenance, or you’re in for a world of hurt!

I’ve owned an '05 Acura TL in Dallas, and let me tell ya, the engine’s been a bit of a headache. The timing chain’s been stretching on more than one owner’s dashboard. And those fuel injectors? Real troublemakers when it comes to my drive. I’ve been vigilant with maintenance, but it’s like always waiting for something to go kaput. Anyone else dealt with these gremlins?
I’ve got firsthand experience with this issue right here in sunny San Diego. The 05 Acura TL had me pulling over multiple times because of random stalling, and I’ve heard folks talking about issues with the VTEC solenoid and ECU glitches. Apparently, the fuel pump too! Oddly enough, the air conditioning blows weak wind sometimes too. It feels like it’s full of gremlins, but man, it’s smooth when the stars align. Just keep those ears peeled for those annoying noises!
In Boston, I’ve seen lots of '05 Acuras fighting with the head gasket - a real pain. My buddy’s engine went out 'cause of that. The exhaust hose is another issue they’ve always griping 'bout here. I’m lucky 'cause mine’s just needing oil and filter. Gotta love these cars though, they hold up pretty well!
I’ve got a buddy in Seattle who’s been dealing with the damn timing chain rattle on his ‘05 Acura TL. It’s like, the vibrations just keep getting worse — constant whining even. Engine light beep-beep too, while drivin’. Everyone says they’re always a pain to fix. Ain’t cheap, pero gotta do it. Hope his gets better soon!
I’ve been dealing with niggling issues on my '05 Acura TL here in Ontario. I have a friend whose car would stall for no reason, especially on highway drives. Someone told me the transmission mount tends to go, and yeah, that’s gotta be for real. I’ve heard the V6’s cam sensor and spark plugs can be a pain, too. Honestly, despite these little hiccups, it’s still a smooth cruiser. Anyone else experience the same quirks down south?
I have this 2005 Acura TL in Colorado, and man, the engine’s got issues. The timing chain’s a real pain—rickety at best. Around 60k miles, mine started whining like crazy. Not to toot my own horn, but my mechanic’s flexin’ a lot doing those repairs. Found a wiki with common probs, and it all checks out. My bro with a '05 up north, Canada, says he’s seen similar issues. Just glad mine didn’t crap out on me during a road trip last year.
Had an '05 Acura TL myself upstate New York, and lemme tell ya, the engine gave me grief. Oil leaks were a nightmare, and I’ve heard the turbo even died on some folks. My buddy had to replace a couple cylinders—real pain in the wallet. Still, it’s a solid ride apart from that. Always keep an eye on maintenance, folks!
I’ve had my own issues with the '05 Acura TL engine here in Canada. Most headaches are about the timing belt. I remember one time mine chewed up, nearly hauling my whole garage till I realized
. Regular check-ups save you a ton of stress. Friends tell me '05s get leaky oil and some even said they have AC problems. Definitely worth an eye, but if all else fails, a bit of DIY can go a long way. Life happens, right?
