What are common issues with Subaru Forester transmission?

Had some trouble with my Forester trans lately. It acts up like, the gear shifts feel rough sometimes. My buddy said it happens a lot on these subs. He had to replace his tranny and said it was costly. Have you had any snap gas pedal issues too? Could be a solenoid or something glitchy. Odd, but his mechanic just gave it a code reset and it worked for a bit. Is that something ya could try? I dunno, maybe I should check that solenoid thing out. Thoughts?

I’ve had a hard time with my Subaru Forester’s tranny here in Canada. Friends say it shifts weird around 70K miles but mine held up better. Common issue, they say. Heard some just get it in warranty, lucky ducks!

I’ve had some headaches with my Forester’s tranny out here in New England. A buddy of mine noticed his slipping but I ignored it at first—thought it was just the road conditions or something. Lol, ended up needing a rebuild after a bit. Subaru trans are infamous, but the Forester’s really got some quirks! Keep an eye out for weird noises or shifts not always as smooth, especially in cold weather up here. Stay vigilant!

I’ve owned a Subaru Forester in Ontario for a year, and the transmission been acting up. Some folks say it’s a common issue here in Canada, especially when shifting between gears feels laggy. Not fun on icy roads! Heard mixed stories about fixes though—anyone tried a rebuild or a reprogram?

I lived in Toronto for a while with my '16 Subaru Forester and felt them transmission glitches real bad. People kept mentioning issues with rough shifting and getting bogged down. Heard the techs struggled a lot to fix it, but hey, nobody’s perfect. Pretty sure it’s a well-known Subaru probs. Some even said it was a lemon law headache. Quite the ride, though!

I’ve got a buddy in Ohio who drives a Subaru Forester, and man, he swears the transmission acts up in the cold. Near-zero degrees and it hesitates like crazy—super frustrating. Another friend up in Canada said his Forester had a sudden shudder coming into traffic, something about needing a synchro rebuild. Just makes you wonder if it’s better to endure or swap it out!

I’ve been in Syracuse and had my Subaru Forester here for a while. Noticed transmission grinding a lot, especially when shifting gears. Heard from friends same issues upstate NY. Seems like lots of us deal with it. Wish they’d fix this! :red_car:

Living in S. California, I’ve seen lots of Subaru Forester owners with tranny issues. Especially at higher miles, it acts finicky. Friend’s Forester had whining sounds, turns out it was the solenoid. Found it made switching gears weird – once felt a jerk when hitting reverse. Lots of people swapping for CVTs or newer models, too. Definitely something to watch out for!

Driving my Subaru Forester in California, I’ve noticed quirky things with its transmission. Some say it shimmies, others face rough shifts. I’ve seen a couple deals go south if oil ain’t checked regularly. Friends mention electronics too, like glitchy gauges. But hey, Subaru’s decent on fixes! Overall, still got my trusty Forester. :red_car:

In Northern California, I’ve noticed some Foresters around my area having brutal trans issues, like weird shifting or outright failure. My buddy down the street had to shell out big bucks for a rebuild, and I’ve been super careful with mine. Apparently, the CVT ain’t cool with oil changes or regular maintenance, folks should be up on this. Heard it breaks down after 100k miles if not cared for right. Anyone else dealt with this crap?

I’ve got a Subaru Forester in Canada, and I’ve heard tons about its transmssion woes. Personally, my car’s been mostly smooth, but many folks here complain about it grinding or jerking during shifts. I’ve heard it’s usually the clutch and solenoid stuff. Seems Subaru’s trying to fix it with recalls, but I guess keeping it in check needs regular checks. Anyways, have you guys experienced anything like that?

I’ve had an issue with my Subaru Forester’s transmission here in Canada. It’s been jerky, especially in stop-and-go traffic—endless trips to the mechanic. I’ve heard it’s a common headache with generations. Folks say the repair bills can hit ya like a brick! Ryaned noting if others had similar gripes.

I’ve got a sick Forester from Canada. It’s been a bit of a bumpy ride though. The transmission’s been giving me headaches; it slips around, especially in cold weather. My buddy thinks it’s a common issue, 'cause he had a sim’lar problem back in '20. Miss a shift here and there—totally annoying. But overall, it’s a beast on the road once you get past those hiccups. Gotta keep an eye on it!

I’ve had a Subaru Forester in Texas for years, and the transmission’s been a nightmare lately. Shifts are super jerky, almost feels like changing gears on a roller coaster. Had to replace the solenoid twice now. Friends across the States say it’s a common problem. Just wish Subaru would fix this issue. Has anyone else run into something like this?

I’ve owned a Subaru Forester in Toronto for years, and y know, the tranny has given me some real headaches. Around 150k miles, it started acting up big time—shifting felt all jumpy and delayed. Friends in the States dealt wit similar issues. Service rep mentioned fluid swaps Didn’t fix it tho. Maybe it’s just the Forester’s way, but talking about reliability here is almost laughable. Still a great ride otherwise, I guess.

I’ve got a Subaru Forester here in Ontario, and dude, the tranny’s been a real pain! Figured out some harsh shifting after like 60k miles. Crazy, I’ve seen others talk about the clutch issue too. Anyone else found a solid fix for this? Been wondering if it’s just my ride.

In Denver, I’ve been dealing with Subaru Forester’s transmission issues like it’s second nature. Shuddering’s a common pain, especially in first gear—feels like the car’s got a mind of its own. Heard the usual suspects: clutch throwout bearing and dual-mass flywheel. Nobody likes playing detective with their car troubles, but somehow, Subaru’s Forester takes the cake on my dodge list. Gotta keep an eye on those warning signs or it’s LCSO (long car stops)!

I’ve had my fair share of Subaru Forester troubles outta Toronto. That transmission acts up more than a cranky old cat. Heard y’all in Cali say it’s a cash pit for repairs too. Trust me, the hunt for a decent mechanic who knows those tricky parts ain’t easy. It’s frustrating, but hey, you take the good with the bad, right? Kinda makes ya loyal to it though!

I had a Subaru Forester in Toronto, and the transmission was giving me headaches. Around 75K miles, it started acting up like it was holding onto third gear instead of shifting smoothly. Ended up being an expensive fix, but worth it in the end. Seems a bit of a common issue here, but Subaru’s solid road test. // Anyone else in the cold hit that?

In Toronto, my Forester 2015 had rough shifts and weird noises, pretty common issues, apparently. I’ve heard others gripe about clutches and CVT troubles too. Everyone’s story’s a bit different but lots complain! Really mind-blowing how such bugs hit a model so often. Hope Subaru’s up for a fix!
