I had a '92 Chevy Silverado in Colorado, and those rust issues are real, man. They’re also finicky with the electricals—I’ve been fixing them often. Also, those V8 engines? #GoodAndBad at the same time. Handling a classic, I tell ya!
I’ve had my '92 Chevy Silverado up in Georgia since 2015. Oil leaks are a pain, especially with the plastic intake manifold. Timing chain can go nuts after 200k, and that serpentine belt drive is a mess. Even the suspension gets jacked. I’ve fixed a few myself, but its old age ain’t getting easier. Finding parts isn’t a walk in the park either. Luckily, the classic rides still attract truck lovers and restoration geeks!
In Texas, I’ve seen a lot of ‘92 Silverados facing electrical gremlins. My buddy’s truck had a battery die several times, and now he’s keeping the dome light on at night like it’s a security system. Also, those rear drums brakes are killer to replace, costing him big cash. Gotta watch those body panels too; they get pushed in easy if you bump into somethin’.
