I recently snagged a '94 Jetta out in Cali. Had some trouble with the timing belt snap, which is a biggie for this model. Suspension’s a bit sketchy too; rust catching up in colder spots up north, I hear. But man, you can’t beat the classic feel! Had some fun with the reliability though. 
Back in '99 in Toronto, I had a ‘94 VW Jetta that kept jamming on the emergency brake. The O2 sensor was another nightmare, messed with drivability like crazy. Had to swap out the coolant reservoir, too. Rode hard, lived fast, and always y’know, gotta keep it comin’. Those little beasts sure can be fickle!
I’ve got this '94 Jetta in Denver, and the rust’s worse than expected! The tranny shifts funny too, had it fixed twice already. My buddy had electrical gremlins – lights cutting out! Despite all that, it runs pretty smooth, and cleanup takes patience. Worth it for the classic feel!
I’ve got a 1994 VW Jetta here in Canada and let me tell ya, the electrical probs are real annoying. Wipers go wild one minute then just die off—I nearly wrecked my glasses! Also, the brakes needed a fix like twice and the transmission started acting up just last year. Had to shell out to fix those, but it’s still my ride!
