What are common issues with 90s Jeep Cherokee models?

So i have a 90s Jeep Cherokee and let me tell u it’s got its quirks. Electronics are always giving up — radio dying after a few months, headlights blowing out sometimes. And the engine can be a pain. Mine has had its share of oil leaks, and u gotta be on top of checking the oil. Suspension feels rough like an old truck, especially on bad roads. but the thing drives like a boss, right?

Transmission issues are a thing too. Mine shifted rough a couple times. Had it serviced a bunch already. ever heard about rust? Yeah, mine’s got its fair share, especially around the wheel wells. Is it worse where yr from? Fuel economy is also crazy, like it guzzles more gas than my buddy’s Ford.

So, what’s your experience been like with these things? Just thought i’d share mine b4 u decide to buy one!

Back in '98, I lived in sunny SoCal & had a '93 Cherokee. The timing belt freaking failed on me, and if ya ain’t on it, total engine hunger—seriously rough in traffic. Also, had a heck of a time with the fuel pump. Great off-road legacy though, man. Totally worth it if ya can handle the maintenance beats!

Growing up in Texas, I’ve had my fair share of adventures with a '94 Jeep Cherokee. Rust was a constant fuss, especially in the frame - typical for the era. The suspension screamed for attention after off-roading, but man, that 4.0 engine? Pure rock and roll! I loved the challenges till I finally upgraded. Anyone else with similar stories? It’s like a badge of honor with these classics!

I’ve always loved my '94 Jeep Cherokee, but boy, she’s been a handful! Growing up in Toronto, with those winters, rust became my bff. Weld the roof rails back on more times than I can count. The transfer case is a nightmare sometimes too, especially that long dash to work. The engines seem fine if you n tend 'em right, though. I swear, these old beasts have character, it’s just a love-hate thing, ya know? So many quirks but hey, you pay for the style, right?

Back in '95 in Michigan, my Jeep Cherokee 4.0L was always a headache. The timing chain tensioner was a real pain, and the rear axle loved to break if you hit a bump wrong. The Cherokee’s cool, but keeping it running was a constant battle—good luck keeping it out of the shop!

I’ve owned a 90s Jeep Cherokee in Colorado, and man was it a blast navigating the mountains! But it came with its quirks – the rust spots and the transmission issues were a headache. People back then loved the rugged vibe, but maintaining it was sometimes a chore. Oops! And trust me, fixing the oil leaks felt more like a full-time job. Back then, you just had to roll with the punches.

I’ve got some stories about my old 90s Jeep Cherokee in Dallas. It had this funky suspension problem that’d creak and groan every time I hit a bumpy road. And don’t get me started on the transmission—it’d act up every time the weather got cold. Oh, and the A/C? As rare as homemade gold in that rig. But despite all, it was reliable with the right TLC. It was like a rite of passage in the 90s!

I’ve had a '94 Cherokee in Minnesota, man, and those electrical gremlins are no joke! Transmission quirks too. Had to swap in a heavy-duty clutch once—felt like a mission! Talk about a fixer-upper, but still a classic!

I’ve had some classic fun with my '95 Jeep Cherokee here in Toronto. Dust and rust are like the biggest issues—I’ve been swapping out parts for years. Suspension goes out like snap, cracking under pressure. Li’l rust monsters everywhere, ha! You know, back then no trouble let me down like ya know those beasts. Plus, cooling and electrical glitches are a blast too—just my luck!

Back in Toronto, my '93 Cherokee had this azuki engine misfire. Pioneer stuff, but a killer rust magnet. Always a fix in the tank though—the driveway monster! Cowboys and Cobras, anyone? :red_car::boom: USA folks hit that same river or did they score lucky?

I’ve owned a '97 Cherokee in Seattle, WA, and man do I have stories! Thing was quirky with its electrical system; lights lighting up left and right at random. I’ve also heard about the EGR valve issues cause big problems with the engine. People in Texas tell me carburetor headaches were real bad; had some friends who nearly went broke fixing it. If it ain’t one thing, it’s another, yet it’s part of that 90s charm. Still, a fun ride!

I’ve owned a 90s Jeep Cherokee in Texas, and boy does it have quirks! The electrical system often acts up. Had to replace the battery like twice! Steering sometimes feels loose. All part of the charm, like an old pal that never quits! Love my Cherokee’s rumble, even if it needs more TLC. Jeep junkies know what I’m saying, right?

I’ve got a '92 Cherokee from Minnesota, and the A/C’s been kaput for years. Also been through like 3 transmissions. These things are tough, but the gremlins sure like to stick around. Oh, and let’s not forget the check engine light that keeps playing hide and seek! :upside_down_face: Still, she’s a solid ride, right?

I’ve got a '90s Cherokee here in Seattle, and those engines die hard. Had issues w/ rust 'n the brakes too. My buddy says the A/C acts up like mad in summer. It’s a classic vibe but needs TLC for sure!

I’ve got an old '97 Cherokee in Texas and the carburetor is a constant headache—air intrusion issues are no joke. Rust’s a biggie too, especially around the undercarriage. I’ve had my fair share of wrangling with oil leaks and electrical gremlins. Anyone else dealt with that drama?

I’ve got a '98 Jeep Cherokee from Miami, and the AC’s always kaput. Electrical glitches are notorious, like the dang gauges flickering. Had to swap the timing belt twice already! Anyone else experience this madness?
