Tesla drive unit failure aftere charging 2020 model y?

so, I wanna share this wild experience with my 2020 Model Y. so, I charged it up, ready for a sweet road trip. But then, right after charging, the drive unit totally flaked out on me. like, what the heck?

I’m just sitting there, all set to go, and it’s acting like it forgot how to drive. had to call roadside assistance, and let me tell you, waiting for them was like watching paint dry.

Has anyone else had this happen? I mean, I thought Teslas were supposed to be the future, not the “future of sitting in a parking lot.” and the worst part, I felt like I was in some weird sci-fi movie where the car gets mad at you. that’s just wrong, right?

I ve had a 2020 Model Y and charging seems fine but I’ve heard about these drive unit failures a lot recently in the US no one wants a car to just break down after a full charge tho.

I was driving my friend’s 2020 Model Y in California last week and it just shut off after charging like what is going on. I ve heard of others having issues too.

Seems like for a premium brand people expect more reliability. I ve always loved Teslas for their tech but this drive unit failure is pretty frustrating even if it’s not super common. Hope they sort it out quick.

yikes I ve heard about this issue from a friend in California my 2020 Y is running well though knock on wood hope they fix it soon :grimacing:

I’ve had my 2020 Model Y in Toronto since last year and honestly I’m loving it but this talk about drive unit failures after charging is a little concerning. Last week I charged up and felt that slight hesitation when I took off. Just a weird moment but it freaks you out a bit.

Hope this doesn’t become a common issue because the car is otherwise super fun to drive.

I ve got a 2020 Model Y and my drive unit went out last week after charging in my garage in California these things are supposed to be reliable but this is frustrating

we should be getting better quality from Tesla like come on my old Honda never did this stuff

Had a 2020 Model Y in California and after charging it suddenly lost power. Super weird experience I ve gotta say. Hoping it’s just a rare thing.

I ve been driving my 2020 Model Y in California for almost two years now and honestly the drive unit has been smooth as butter. After charging yesterday I noticed some weird noises tho.

My friend in Seattle mentioned similar issues so now I’m kinda paranoid. I hope this is just a fluke and not a trend. Its like Tesla is on the edge of something great but then oops there goes the drive unit.

I ve had my 2020 Model Y for over a year here in Colorado and it’s been mostly great until recently I experienced a weird sound after charging.

Now I’m kinda worried about the drive unit stuff you guys are mentioning. Hoping I don’t end up in the same boat.

I ve got a 2020 Model Y too and after a nice long charge it just stopped working last week. Very frustrating in the middle of a road trip in California had to call for a tow.

Charging is great but I didn’t sign up for this headache

I ve got a 2020 Model Y and I charged it all the time but now I hear about this drive unit failure thing and honestly it makes me a bit nervous. It feels like a ticking time bomb ya know. Just the other day a mate of mine in California had issues too.

That’s wild I’ve heard of this happening in California. My neighbor had a weird issue with his Y after charging too. Electric cars seem great but the tech can be a bit shaky sometimes.

I ve got a 2020 Model Y too and it’s been a wild ride with charging. One time after charging at a Supercharger in Texas the drive unit just felt off. Like why is this happening?

It’s frustrating cause I love the car but these failures can really mess with your trust. Hopefully it’s just a rare issue and not a sign of more problems down the road. Just keep an eye on it.

I had a 2020 Model Y too in California and after charging it just wouldn’t go sometimes. So annoying right? Electric cars are great but drive unit failing is a whole different level of stress.

Heard its not just me though. I ve seen other posts about this same issue. Kinda makes you wonder what’s going on with the tech.

I ve always loved my Tesla but after my friend in California told me about their model Y drive unit failure after charging it got me worried.

I mean it’s a 2020 model and you’d think with the advancements things would be more reliable. I haven’t had issues yet but I keep wondering if I’m just waiting for the other shoe to drop

It’s kinda wild how some people swear by them while others have these crazy stories. Makes you think about your recent choices huh.

I’ve got a 2020 Model Y too and honestly I had some similar issues after charging at home in California. Just suddenly felt sluggish one day. Not ideal for a car that’s supposed to be cutting edge technology. Really frustrating.

I’ve heard about other drivers facing drive unit failures as well. It’s weird how these things pop up when you least expect it. Just makes you wonder about the long-term reliability of these vehicles.

I’ve had my 2020 Model Y since last year and charging it feels like a game sometimes. My friend had a drive unit failure after charging too and it freaked me out.

I’m in California and honestly I love the car but these issues just make you think twice about the whole EV thing. You never know what’s gonna happen next.

man I was driving my 2020 Model Y in California after charging and suddenly it went dead on the freeway had to get towed what a nightmare I ve heard some folks talk about similar issues it’s wild how a high-tech car can just fail like that

maybe its a software thing or just bad luck who knows hope tesla sorts this out fast

I ve gotta say I had a weird experience when I took my 2020 Model Y out for a drive after charging in California last summer. Suddenly the drive unit felt off like it was holding back.

Kinda made me rethink my love for Tesla a bit. Just strange to see such issues.

I had my 2020 Model Y in Seattle and it’s been great until now. I’ve seen others mention drive unit issues too. Really frustrating though.
