Is it common for the pcm fuse to blow on a 05 f150 54?

so the other day I was driving my 05 F150 and suddenly, it just died. like one minute it was fine and next it was a brick. had to pull over and guess what, it was the pcm fuse. I was like, really? is this a thing?

I mean, I’ve heard of other folks having the same issue, so I wonder if it’s common for this model. But, why does a fuse blow like that, just outta nowhere? I’m no mechanic but I’ve seen my share of car troubles.

So, has anyone else dealt with this? I feel like I’m not alone here. And if it happens again, I’m seriously considering using duct tape as a fix.

I remember my buddy’s 05 F150 blowing the pcm fuse when we were out in the middle of nowhere in Michigan. Just dead as a doornail.

I’ve had my share of issues with my 2006 Silverados fuse situation too back in Toronto.

Seems like these fuses can be real troublemakers especially with the age of the trucks. I’ve heard it’s not super uncommon I guess.

I’ve had my 05 F150 in Calgary for a few years now
The pcm fuse gave out on me last winter felt like a surprise party blowing at the worst moment

Not too crazy common but yeah it happens here and there

kind of a pain but not the end of the world

I’ve got an 05 F150 in Colorado and I’ve had the pcm fuse blow a couple of times. First time I thought it was something major but it turned out to be just the fuse.

Heard from neighbors in the area that it’s not super uncommon either. Just part of the charm of owning an older truck.

Had a 2005 F150 in Calgary and that pcm fuse blew out on me like twice. Super annoying especially when it happened on a cold winter night. I ve heard from buddies in the States that it’s pretty common too. Just guess it goes with the age of the truck. Frustrating but part of the game I suppose.

Had an 05 F150 54 myself few years back in Ohio. The pcm fuse blew on me randomly while driving. Talk about frustrating.

My neighbor who had the same model in Kentucky mentioned his did too. Guess its kinda common then.

Seems like it can happen more often with these trucks. Friends in the states say the same thing. Just keep an eye on it

I’ve got a 2005 F150 5.4 too and yeah I’ve had that pcm fuse blow on me once while driving around Calgary it was super annoying. Seems like a common issue though maybe it’s just old wiring or something. What a hassle.

Def mine had issues with rough starts after it blew. A real headache I tell ya. Guess its kinda common maybe just bad luck.

I ve had my 05 F150 for a while now and I’ve seen the pcm fuse blow a couple of times it was a hassle honestly. I live in Texas where the heat can be brutal on these things.

Seems like a known issue among owners I’ve talked to can be frustrating when it happens out of the blue. It’s just part of owning these trucks I guess.
