How much should I expect to pay for honda civic 2012 key replacement?

so, the other day, I lost my keys like a total genius. I was at the grocery store, and somehow they just vanished. I mean, who thought losing keys could ruin my day so fast? anyway, I started looking into getting a replacement key for my 2012 Honda Civic.

I found some locksmiths online, and I was kinda shocked. The prices were all over the place, like seriously. Some places wanted around 100 bucks, while others were trying to charge me like 300. And don’t even get me started on the dealership, they were like a whole separate universe with the pricing. But like, how can a piece of metal cost so much?

Has anyone else been through this? I just wanna know what’s the norm for a key replacement. Is this a “welcome to adulthood” moment or just typical Honda stuff?

Ive been there with my buddy in Austin Texas lost his 2012 Civic key and it cost him around 300 bucks wowzzza but if you go to a locksmith it could be cheaper maybe 150 or 200 just saying.

I ve replaced a few Honda keys before and it usually runs me around 150 to 250 bucks depending on the dealer here in California

It’s a bit annoying but what can you do

I lost my 2012 Civic key last winter in New York it was a pain to replace. I paid around 200 bucks at the dealership. I guess that the price be different depending on where you are but the whole process took forever. So annoying. Good luck with yours.

I lost my 2012 Civic key last year in Chicago and man it was a hassle. Ended up paying around 200 bucks at the dealer.

Thought it was a bit steep but hey they had to program the new key.

I ve heard some luckier folks found cheaper options online but I was too nervous to try.

If you’re in a pinch like I was just be ready to shell out some cash.

I ve lost my Honda Civic key like three times already and every time it was a different price. once in California it was like 200 bucks and another time in Canada it was more than that. it feels kinda ridiculous paying all that just for a little metal and plastic

sometimes I wonder if I should keep a spare key on me at all times

Just be ready for dealership prices if you’re going that route.
