How much does it cost to replace a Honda Civic rack?

so last year, my Honda Civic started making this weird noise, like it was auditioning for a horror movie. Turns out, the rack and pinion was shot. I took it to a mechanic, but man, I was sweating bullets thinking of the cost. they said it would be around $800 to $1200. I mean, I could’ve bought a decent used bike for that.

But then I thought, if I do it myself, maybe I could save a few bucks. I watched some YouTube videos—those guys make it look easy, right? But I won’t lie, it took me a whole weekend and some busted knuckles. Have you guys ever tried this? Did it work out, or did you end up with spare parts left over?

I ve had to replace my Civic rack before and it wasnt cheap man. Parts plus labor really add up. But the difference in steering is crazy. Worth it I guess.

I remember when my Civic needed a rack replaced I was panicking thinking it would cost a fortune. Turns out it was around 600 bucks which seemed fair considering how vital steering is.

Not sure if I got lucky or if prices vary but just be ready for that range. Its better to fix it than to risk your safety on the road.

when my friend replaced his civic rack it was around a grand kinda steep if you ask me but hey smooth steering after that so I guess you pay for peace of mind right

Ive thought about it for my own car costing around that price but I dunno part of me says just keep driving till it squeaks I mean it does add up

Replacing a rack on a Honda Civic can really drain your wallet. I remember when I had to do mine and it cost me a small fortune. I’ve heard people pay anywhere from 800 to 1500 dollars depending on the shop.

Some places are more reasonable but then others tack on fees that make you cringe. I guess it depends on how urgent you need it done right. Just keep your eyes peeled for deals

I ve replaced my Civic rack last year and it cost me around 800 bucks with labor included. kinda steep but it drives like new now. makes me wonder if it worth it sometimes.

my friend got a local mechanic to do it for way cheaper but im always scared of those backdoor jobs. guess you gotta weigh reliability with cost.

I had to replace my Honda Civic rack last year and man it was like pulling teeth. I ve seen estimates ranging from 800 to 1500 bucks no joke. It’s wild how much it costs to fix a car. I guess it all depends on if you go with OEM or some aftermarket stuff.

But seriously sometimes I wonder if it’s worth it or just time to get a new ride.

replacing the rack on my Honda Civic was a bit of a nightmare I have to say. I got quoted like 800 bucks from one shop and it just felt insane. Did they throw in gold or something? I’ve heard people doing it themselves to save cash but I ain’t got those skills. the whole experience felt like a money pit but the car drives fine now so there’s that.

I remember when my Civic started making this weird grinding noise out of nowhere. Turns out the rack was shot. I’ve read that replacement costs can vary a lot like anywhere from 800 to like 1500 bucks depending on where you go.

So yeah if you’re thinking about it better hit up some local shops and get quotes. It feels like an arm and a leg but worth it if you’re keeping the car.
