How many amps should the battery have in a 2017 Honda CRV?
so the other day, my CRV wouldn’t start. I was late to work and had to jump it like a scene from a low-budget action movie. Turns out, my battery was weak. I started wondering, how many amps is really needed for those CRVs?
I found out that most of these babies run on a 12-volt battery with about 60-70 amps. But then I thought to myself, what if I just slap a monster truck battery in there? Would my car turn into a transformer or something?
Also, why does it feel like the battery size changes based on who you ask? Next time I’m calling a mechanic for sure. Anyone else face this battery drama. And what did you do?
Ive read somewhere that a 2017 CRV should have around 70 to 80 amps for optimal performance.
In my dad’s CRV the battery was weak so he switched to one with 80 amps and it runs like a champ now.
I ve got a 2017 CRV and I remember checking the battery specs when I moved to Seattle. Its kinda funny how I thought bigger is better but turns out the stock 70-75 amp battery works just fine for the Pacific Northwest.
Who knew all that rain wouldn’t soak my battery.
I live in Seattle and my 2017 CRV has been super reliable but I always wondered about the amp thing. Friends say 70 to 75 amps is a good range for it.
I ve seen some folks switching it up with higher amps and claiming better performance but I don’t know. My battery’s original is still kicking so maybe ill just stick with it. It’s not broke dont fix it right?
I remember when I changed the battery in my 2017 CRV last winter in Michigan it was such a hassle. I found out it should have around 70-80 amps but really just check the specs.
I ve seen some that last forever and others that fizzle out fast. Weird stuff.
I’ve got a 2017 CRV and it runs fine with a 70 amp battery I think. My neighbor in Minnesota used one with less amps once and his got weird. Just odd how batteries can make or break a ride ya know.
Honestly I’ve seen some people say a 2017 Honda CRV should have at least 550 cold cranking amps for its battery. I remember swapping mine out last winter in Ohio and it was a pain but figured it out.
If you go lower you might run into starting issues especially when it’s cold. Just keep an eye on it or you might end up stranded somewhere boring like a grocery store parking lot.
I ve got a 2017 CRV and it runs on a 50-60 amp battery if I remember right. Just replaced mine last month in NY felt good to finally get it going again without the jump start routine. Definitely worth the effort.
I have a 2017 CRV and I went with a 70 amp battery works great here in Michigan even in winter.
I ve heard some folks say it should be higher for better performance but mine’s been solid. Just sharing my experience.
I have found that a 2017 CRV usually needs around 51 amp hours to run smoothly. Works fine in winter here in Canada.
I’ve always thought around 60-70 amps is good for a 2017 CRV I live in Michigan and my battery has been solid through winters
Even saw a friend with a 70 amp do just fine nice to see that reliability
