How does the MPG of the 2024 F150 2.7 V6 compare to 5.0 V8?

so last summer, I was on a road trip with buddies, and I drove a 2024 F150 with the 2.7 V6. I was kinda surprised, but it got like 22 mpg on the highway. But then my buddy had the 5.0 V8, and his truck was more like 17 mpg.

We were out there cruising, and I was filling up way less than him. But man, that V8 sounded awesome when he punched it. And I guess it made me think, is the extra power worth the drop in mileage?

Both trucks have their perks for sure. But if I’m just driving around and not pulling heavy stuff, I’d lean toward that V6 for the gas savings. Anyone else had these experiences with the F150s? More mpg or more power, which one you pick?

I ve had my eyes on both these engines living in Michigan. I think the 2.7 V6 is way better on gas.

But the V8 sounds awesome and has more power. Kinda hard to pick honestly.

So I was chatting with my buddy in Texas last week about the new F150 2.7 V6 and he swears it gets way better MPG than the 5.0 V8 that I always thought was the king of the pickups.

I don’t know man I’ve always loved the growl of a V8 but if the 2.7 is saving me some bucks at the pump I might just reconsider my loyalty.

I ve driven both around Toronto and the 2.7 V6 is surprisingly decent on fuel when compared to the 5.0 V8. I mean I was expecting more tanking from the V8 but its not as bad as I thought maybe its just me

The turbo feels zippy while saving some bucks on gas which is nice.

I have a buddy in Texas who swears by the 5.0 V8 for that growl and power but honestly the 2.7 V6 has been impressing me with its MPG.

I’ve seen folks getting decent numbers compared to the V8.

Not that I’m giving up on the big engine vibes but sometimes that fuel efficiency is hard to ignore especially with gas prices like they are now.

Miles per gallon is decent for both but the V8 just feels more like a truck ya know

I’ve always been a fan of that growl from the 5.0. Makes the road feel like it’s yours. I guess you have to weigh power against efficiency, tough choice.

I ve got a 2023 5.0 V8 in Canada I really love the power but the MPG hurts sometimes.

Heard the 2.7 V6 is better on gas but lacks some of that oomph you know.

ive been driving my 2023 F150 with the 5.0 V8 for a while now and honestly the power is something else but my buddy just got the 2.7 V6 and says he’s saving quite a bit on gas up here in Canada.

the V8 sounds sweet but that MPG difference is hard to ignore.
