How does mazda mx 5 vs honda crv compare in terms of reliability?

so a few years back, I had a mazda mx-5. loved that little thing, felt like a go-kart on the road. But after a year, I started to wonder if it was going to fall apart on every pothole. like, my buddy’s honda crv just seemed to run forever with barely any issues.

so, I asked him what’s the secret, and he said something about how all he does is change the oil once in a while. I mean, come on, how can a car be so reliable with so little effort? But my mx-5? I was always checking the oil levels and worrying about every little sound.

i think the crv is like that friend who always shows up on time, while the mx-5 is more like the friend who shows up late but brings pizza. do you guys think i’m comparing apples to oranges here or what?

I have a friend who had a Mazda MX-5 in Ontario and loved the handling but always complained about little electrical issues. I’ve got a Mazda MX-5 and it’s like a little rocket just waiting to zoom. I can’t say much about the Honda CR-V because my buddy has one and it’s comfy but a bit of a tank reliability wise I’d say the MX-5 wins in the fun department though.
