How do I replace the 2021 rav4 front cross menber bolts?

so last weekend, I decided to get my hands dirty and replace the front cross member bolts on my 2021 RAV4. I thought it’d be a simple task, right? Just bolts, how hard could it be? But man, I was wrong.

First off, I couldn’t find the right tool. I swear I have like every tool under the sun but the one I needed was MIA. Finally found it under a pile of socks, which is a whole different story.

And then there was rust. Didn’t think a car that’s only a couple years old would have rust issues. Crazy, right? Anyway, ended up having to use some penetrating oil and waited like an hour for it to work. Do you guys have any tips for dealing with stubborn bolts?

After all that, it was pretty smooth, but I almost forgot to torque them down properly. Who knew that was even a thing? Just thinkin’ I might do it again next weekend on my friend’s car. What could go wrong?

I had to get a 14mm socket for the job and honestly the tight space made me sweat a bit. But feeling accomplished now with it all buttoned up.
