How do I install a new exhaust tip on my 9th gen civic si?

last summer, I decided to spice up my civic si by adding a new exhaust tip. it was supposed to be an easy afternoon project, you know? but I quickly learned that figuring out how to get that old one off was like trying to solve a Rubik’s cube blindfolded.

first thing I did was jack up the car. But I forgot my jack stands and ended up kinda holding the car up with my knees. not my brightest moment. And then once I got the old tip off, I realized I didn’t have the right size clamps. classic rookie mistake, right?

so if you’re doing this, make sure you got the right tools. does anyone have any tips on getting a stubborn exhaust tip off? and what kind of sound should I expect after the swap? I could use some wisdom here.
