How do I install 2013 ford f150 xlt side step oem parts?

so a few weeks ago, I finally decided to tackle installing those side steps on my 2013 F150 XLT. I mean, my big ol’ truck looked empty without them, and climbing in was like scaling a mountain.

But I thought it would be simple, just like baking a cake. But turns out, it’s more like trying to solve a Rubik’s cube blindfolded. I had all the parts laid out, thinking I was all set. But then I realized I needed a few tools I didn’t have, and running to the store was like a treasure hunt.

Once I got going, it took me an hour longer than I thought it would. There were a couple of times I was pretty sure I was missing a bolt but found it in the most ridiculous spot. Ever had that happen to you? Anyway, after a few “creative” adjustments, they finally went on.

So, any tips for future projects that might save me from my own incompetence?

Ive done this before on my buddy’s F150 in Michigan

it was pretty straightforward and honestly kinda fun

just take your time and follow the instructions

definitely make sure you have the right tools tho

saves a ton of hassle later

Man installing those oem steps was a bit of a pain for me. I remember doing it in my driveway in Ohio during a random rainstorm.

Instructions were okay but some parts felt off. I had to wrestle with a few screws like they were possessed.

But hey they look good now so worth it I guess.

I have a 2013 F150 too and installing the OEM side steps was kinda easy just needed some basic tools.

Make sure to watch a YouTube video first it really helps out.

I’ve spent a weekend in Texas trying to install my OEM side steps and it was a chore. great fit but those screws were a pain to get in.

I have to say I love the look of the F150 with those installed. makes it feel more rugged driving through the back roads.

I ve installed mine in Texas took a bit longer than expected but the result was worth it. I love the way they look now. Just make sure you have the right tools handy or you ll be running to the store.

I installed my side steps last summer in my garage in Michigan it was pretty straightforward

Just need some basic tools and a little patience took me a weekend but saved a bunch doing it myself

Looks good and makes getting in and out way easier so definitely worth it

I ve done this before in my buddy’s garage in Michigan it was a bit tricky but once you get the hang of it the steps just fall into place so worth it to get that extra boost up

just make sure you’ve got the right tools and take your time. you’ll be cruising in style before you know it

i ve done this before in Minnesota and it wasn’t too hard really just take your time fitting the parts and double check everything for alignment. the satisfaction of stepping up into the truck after is worth it though.
