How can I fix the p0720 code on my Ford F150?

so last week, my F150 starts acting all weird, like it’s auditioning for a horror movie or something. i got the p0720 code and I’m like, great, just what I needed. it was driving like a drunk snail, and I thought maybe it had a personality crisis.

But I learned that the code means something’s up with the vehicle speed sensor or wiring. I checked the wiring first, and guess what? I found some loose connections. made me feel like a mini mechanic… for a second. anyone else had this happen?

And I’m thinking if it could be something else too, like a bad sensor. like, do I really need to replace the whole thing? would love to hear what you guys did when this code popped up.

I’ve been there with the P0720 code on my old F150 in Michigan. It driving me nuts.

Changed the speed sensor and wires got fixed but still had issues.

I found cleaning the connectors helped a bit. Hope yours gets sorted out soon too. Good luck.

trust me check your wiring I ve heard that’s a common problem too got to love these old trucks though they keep us on our toes

I’ve had that p0720 code on my F150 in Ohio it’s like the truck just gives up sometimes. Check the sensor it was a pain but worth it when it worked.

I ve had a similar issue with my 2012 F150 last summer in Michigan. The P0720 code drove me nuts.

Turned out it was just a bad output speed sensor. Replaced it myself in the driveway with some YouTube help.

After some digging I found it was just a bad speed sensor. Easy fix if you know where to look.

I had a similar issue on my 2012 F150 in Ohio. the p0720 code drove me nuts. I found out the speed sensor was shot.

wasn’t a fun fix but you just gotta do some digging under the truck.

it was worth it tho when I finally got it cleared and my truck start shifting smoothly again.

sometimes these codes can really mess with your head. good luck with yours.

had a p0720 code pop up on my F150 here in Michigan last winter. it was as fun as driving on ice. I ve read that it could be the vehicle speed sensor or wiring issues. my buddy replaced his sensor and it cleared right up so I guess that’s worth trying. hope you get it sorted soon

I’ve been dealing with the p0720 code on my 2008 F150 it drove me crazy in the middle of a snow storm up in Minnesota.

First thing I tried was checking the speed sensor and to my surprise it was shot so I replaced it and it cleared the code.

Then just to be safe double checked the wiring too. Never thought fixing a truck could be such an adventure

I ve had the P0720 code on my 2010 F150 and it was a headache. I checked the speed sensor connections cause I heard that could be it. In the end it was just a loose wire under the truck.

Can’t believe how simple it was. My buddy in Seattle had the same issue and ended up replacing the whole sensor first. Made me feel lucky

I had the p0720 code pop up on my 2010 F150 in Texas and it turned out to be a bad speed sensor. pretty frustrating but once I swapped it everything was fine.

Just make sure you check the wiring too because sometimes it’s just a loose connection messing things up. it can drive you nuts.

I ve dealt with that code before in my 2005 F150 took forever to figure it was just a bad sensor in the transmission

I have a 2007 F150 and dealt with that code last summer. Turned out it was just a faulty sensor but I had a ton of trouble figuring it out.

I’ve read a lot about people chasing wiring issues too. Replacing the VSS can help but check your connections first. It’s such a headache when these codes pop up for no reason. Good luck with it.

I remember my buddy in Michigan had that p0720 code pop up on his F150 he thought it was the end of the world

Turned out he just needed a new speed sensor

couldnt believe it was such an easy fix

As long as your not ignoring the issue it should be fine

ive dealt with P0720 on my old F150 in Texas a few summers ago it was just the speed sensor connection loose and causing all kinds of drama totally an easy fix if you check that first time saver for sure good luck

I ve had that code pop up on my F150 out here in Michigan. After chasing my tail a bit I realized it was just that pesky speed sensor. I ended up replacing it myself which was a bit messy but saved some cash.
