How can I effectively fix oil burning in a 2000 Toyota Corolla?

so, dealing with oil burning in my 2000 Corolla was a real headache, man. I remember the day it started, I was driving and saw smoke. thought my car was turning into a dragon. First thing I did was change the oil and filter, but that didn’t fix much.

a buddy told me about adding thicker oil, like 10W-40 instead of 5W-30, and I was like, why not give it a shot? that helped a bit, but still had to keep an eye on the levels, like a hawk. And then there’s that whole thing about using a synthetic blend too, which I haven’t tried yet.

have u done anything crazy to fix oil burning in yours? just wondering what worked for you.

I remember my buddy had a 2000 Corolla in Toronto and it burned oil like it was training for a marathon. He switched to high mileage oil and it kinda helped but still left puddles everywhere. Just gotta be ready for constant topping off. Crazy stuff.

Man I remember my buddy had a Corolla just like that in Toronto and it was burning oil like crazy I ve seen it go through more oil than gas.

He tried different brands of oil and even some additives but nothing worked.

Honestly some of those old engines just give up after a while it’s like they’ve made their peace with the world.

I had a 2000 Corolla back in Michigan and it started burning oil around 120k miles. I’ve tried additives and stuff but the valve seals were shot so I bit the bullet and did a head gasket replacement. Made a world of difference.

But if you don’t wanna dive into that kind of work there are some good stop leak products too. Just don’t expect miracles. Sometimes these old girls just need a little extra love.

I had a 2000 Corolla once kind of a champ but yeah the oil burning was a pain. Used to have to refill oil every month living in Ohio it was a whole thing. I tried changing the PCV valve and it helped a bit but never fully fixed it.

In the end I just kept a jug of oil in the trunk and accepted my fate haha. Best of luck with yours hope you figure it out soon

I ve been dealing with oil burning in my old Corolla for ages here in Minnesota. It was super annoying wasting cash on oil just to keep it running.

Changing the oil often helped a bit but I finally used some of that stop leak stuff. Not perfect but it slowed down the burning. I think what really works is just staying on top of it.

I had a 2000 Corolla too and it drank oil like crazy. I tried adding thicker oil but it just delayed the inevitable.

I ve heard some people swear by additives but who knows if they really work.

I’ve had similar issues with my old Corolla in Texas oil burning is such a pain I ve tried thicker oil didn’t help much though.

I had a 2001 Corolla that burnt oil like crazy it was in Michigan I tried everything from synthetic oil to those additives nothing really worked just seemed to get worse over time.

Seems like that’s a common thing with these older models I’ve heard some people just add oil regularly and live with it which honestly might be the easiest route.

had a 2000 Corolla in Toronto and it started burning oil like crazy one winter I added thicker oil and cut back on my highway driving that helped a bit but it still used some pretty good amounts I’ve heard changing the valve seals can work wonders but it’s a pain to do

keeping an eye on your levels is key though too dont let it run dry

I’ve had a 2000 Corolla too and yeah that oil burning is a pain.

I remember driving through the mountains in California and checking the oil every few days.

Switched to high mileage oil and surprisingly it helped a bit. Just keep a close eye on it and be ready to top off often. Not a fun fix but doable.

I’ve been battling that oil burning in my Corolla since driving through Toronto last winter. Switched to thicker oil and added a can of stop leak. Seems to help a bit.

You might wanna check those valve seals too. My buddy had a similar issue and this save him a bunch of headaches.

Ive dealt with oil burning in my old Corolla too when I lived in Michigan. I tried changing the oil more often and using thicker oil it kinda helped but after a while I figured a rebuild was my best bet. Lots of work but worth it.

Had a 2000 Corolla in Vancouver it burned oil like a campfire. Switched to thicker oil and it helped a bit maybe. Just keep an eye on it.

I had a 2000 Corolla too and man that thing burned oil like it was goin outta style in Texas. I tried everything from thicker oil to changing the PCV valve but it just kept chugging along.

Sometimes I wonder if it’s just a Corolla thing or what.

I remember my buddy’s 2000 Corolla was burning oil like crazy in Toronto. He tried everything from changing the oil to adding thicker oil. Nothing worked. Then he discovered a leak near the valve cover and fixed it. That made a difference. Just goes to show sometimes it’s the little things you overlook.

I’ve also heard about additives that can help stop the burning.

had a 2001 Corolla that burned oil like a campfire in the woods in Oregon I ve tried thicker oil and it helped a bit but the smoke was still there

my friend just kept adding oil every few weeks that worked too in a weird way

My buddy had that issue with his Corolla in Michigan and ended up using thicker oil. It kinda worked but it’s still a sweet little ride.

I’ve heard about transmission seals too but who knows.
