hey everyone, so i was tryin to wire up a tach for my 96 civic and i’m kinda stuck. i thought it would be just plug and play but apparently, it’s not that simple. can you believe it?
last time i tried to do something like this, i ended up with my radio not working. was pretty funny, my friends thought i was cursed or something. anyway, i remember someone mentioning this little green wire behind the cluster, but not sure if it’s the right one.
anyone else done this before? what wire did you use for the tach signal? And if you’ve got a diagram, that’d be super helpful. i’m just trying to avoid a repeat of my radio disaster here.
thanks in advance, any help would be great. i owe you a drink or somethin for the assist.
I lived in North Carolina and my 96 civic gave me hell with the tach signal. I ve spent hours trying to figure it out. Sometimes it felt like a big puzzle just without the picture. Hope someone can share that diagram or tips. Would be super helpful.
I ve been chasing my 96 Civic tach signal for ages now I finally found a diagram in an old forum thread in my garage I got it all wired up properly.
It’s crazy how helpful the community is for this stuff sometimes you just need a little nudge to get it done right.
I had a 96 Civic back in the day and trust me figuring out the tach signal was a pain. I ended up scrapping my sweet setup for a while because I couldn’t find decent wiring info. Now that I’m in Canada these cars pop up everywhere. I’d say check the ECU pinouts for the tach signal it could save you some headaches. Always remember watch for those pesky splices too.
I got my 96 civic in Iowa and I remember struggling with the tach signal too. Wish I had a diagram back then. Just trial and error mostly. Good luck with it.
Man I feel ya I had a 96 civic too up here in Ontario had it all souped up but the tach signal was a nightmare for me. I ended up wiring it to the coil and it worked fine after that. Good luck hope you find that diagram.
I remember when I was working on my 96 Civic in my garage in Michigan a few winters back. I was chasing down a tach signal and let me tell you it was a headache. Ended up using a multimeter after a bunch of trial and error.
I ve seen a couple diagrams floating around online but they tend to be a bit scattered you know. It would be awesome if someone could just post one clear diagram. Makes life so much easier when you’re knee-deep in wires.
I ve been chasing a tach signal for my 96 Civic forever here in Michigan. Finally found a diagram online last week and it worked like a charm. Just a simple green wire from the distributor to the tach. So simple but so frustrating at first.
I’ve been wrestling with the tach signal on my 96 Civic for weeks now. Last summer in Oregon I finally got it sorted after scouring forums. There’s something oddly satisfying about getting those wires in the right place. Hope someone can drop a diagram here.
Man I remember when I was trying to figure this out for my old Civic back in Michigan it felt like a maze.
What a pain. Had to search everywhere for that wiring stuff.
I ve got a diagram somewhere if you need but honestly YouTube has been a lifesaver nowadays.
Good luck with that project though it can be a real headache sometimes.
I remember working on my buddy’s '96 Civic back in Michigan. We were lost trying to find the tach signal. It was frustrating but somehow fun. Good luck finding the diagram though. They’re like gold dust in the car world.
I remember working on my buddy’s 96 civic back in Vancouver and we spent ages trying to figure the tach signal.
I ve ended up using a multimeter and found it at the back of the cluster. Such a pain but worth it when it finally lit up. Someone should post a clear diagram cause it really helps when you re lost like we were.
I remember when I did my first swap on my 96 Civic in my garage in California. Such a mess but fun.
Finding that tach signal was a pain though. I’ve seen a few diagrams online but they all seem a bit off.
Hope someone shares a good one.
I remember my 96 Civic days in Michigan chasing that elusive tach signal. Found a wiring diagram buried in a forum that honestly saved me.
Hope someone can post a good one here.
