Can I use larger rims on f150 without affecting performance?
so, last summer I thought I’d spiff up my f150 a bit. decided to swap the stock rims for some bigger ones that looked super cool. I mean, who doesn’t wanna roll in style, right? But then I started wondering if it was gonna mess with performance.
I noticed my truck felt a little different, like maybe it was a bit slower off the line. not too much, but you could feel it. And I was like, did I just turn my beast into a grandma car? And don’t even get me started on the MPG.
so, did i make a mistake? has anyone else felt this way? I’d love to hear what you guys think about bigger rims and if it’s really worth it? Or should I just stick with the good ol’ factory wheels?
I’ve got an F150 in Texas and switched to larger rims last summer. Honestly the ride feels a bit stiffer but looks way cooler. Just keep an eye on your speedometer.
Larger rims on my F150 was a game changer I live in Texas and hit those backroads now with more style.
But I’ve noticed a bit of a rough ride I guess that’s the trade-off for aesthetic.
Performance wise it still pulls strong so I think it’s a fair compromise. Just be prepared for a bumpy ride sometimes.
I.ve used bigger rims on my F150 in Texas and it didn’t really affect the ride much just a bit more road noise creeping in
But handling was good and it looked meaner so I was happy
I’ve got a 2018 F150 and switched to larger rims last summer in Georgia. I thought it would improve the look but man gas mileage went down the drain.
It does look sharp though. Handling felt a bit different too not sure if I like it or not. Just be ready to deal with some trade-offs.
Ive got a 2019 F150 and switched to larger rims last summer. Honestly it felt like driving on clouds at first but after a few months I noticed the fuel economy tanked. Just my two cents.
I’ve run 20s on my F150 in Texas and it looked great but I swear the ride got so stiff. Handling felt different too like driving a pancake. Just my two cents.
I ve had an F150 for a while and decided to try bigger rims once. It looked awesome but I could feel the difference in handling. Just my two cents.
In Canada the roads can be rough so I switched back to stock. Way better for getting through the snow.
I dunno about bigger rims on my F150 honestly I had a buddy in Texas who tried it and said it totally messed with his ride quality he felt every bump in the road and it felt kinda shaky
I’ve heard some folks love the look but if performance goes down who needs that right I guess it depends on what you want from your truck really
So I’ve got an F150 and I put 20s on it last summer here in Ohio. At first I was worried about handling but honestly it didn’t feel much different. Smooth ride and kind of looks sharper too.
But I heard some people say you lose some torque which kinda makes sense but who cares if it looks good right
I have a buddy who put 20s on his F150 up in Alberta and he swears it made a difference in handling.
But honestly I’ve seen some guys struggle in the mud with those bigger rims like they just float on top.
Gotta love the look but performance might take a hit.
I’ve owned an F150 in California and went bigger on the rims once. It looked awesome but I felt the ride stiffened a bit. Maybe not ideal for long trips I have preferred the stock size. Just my two cents.
I remember when I put bigger rims on my F150 in Texas thinking it would look cooler. It did but it felt a bit sluggish too.
Honestly I ve heard mixed things about performance loss. Some say it’s fine others claim it messes with your speedometer and handling. Kinda wild.
I had a 2017 F150 and switched to larger rims. I noticed it handled differently on those bumpy Colorado roads but it looked way cooler.
I’ve read mixed stuff about performance some say yes some say no. Just keep an eye on the balance and tire size.
I ve had my F150 for years in Canada and switched to larger rims last summer. Do notice a bit of heavy steering but looks awesome.
I have friends say it hurts mpg but honestly it rides fine just makes it look more aggressive.
I’ve got a buddy in Texas who put 20s on his F150 and swears by it. He says it looks sick but did notice a tad less torque when towing. Kinda gives it that flashy look though. Guess it depends on what you’re going for.
I ve got a 2020 F150 and switched to larger rims last summer up in Minnesota. It looks amazing but I notice a bit less acceleration. The ride feels more stable though around corners.
So there’s that trade-off. I think it depends on what you want. If looks matter more than performance go for it. Just know you might lose some pep.
