Can I install a brake controller on a 2015 f150 by myself?

so, the other day, I finally decided to tow my buddy’s old camper, right? And then I remembered I needed a brake controller for my 2015 F150. I mean, how hard could it be? I watched a couple of YouTube videos, and they made it look simple, like putting together IKEA furniture without the extra screws.

But when I popped the hood, I was like, wait, where do I even start? I’ve done some basic car stuff before, like changing oil and replacing headlights, but this felt like I was trying to bake a cake without a recipe.

And then there’s the wiring. I’m not an electrician, but those colored wires looked like they were having a party. Has anyone done this themselves? Like, is it really that tricky, or am I just overthinking it? I ended up just staring at the thing for a solid hour, hoping it’d install itself.
