Are there any recommended years for a used ford f 150 purchase?

so, last summer i decided to buy a used ford f-150. my buddy has one, and he swears it’s the best truck ever. i mean, it’s like the swiss army knife of vehicles. but man, after searching for a while, i realized not every year is a gem.

i found a 2017 model that had low miles and looked great, but they wanted way too much. then i saw a 2014, and it was way cheaper. and it ran like a champ! but i heard that some of the 2015s had engine issues. so, now i’m wondering, is there a sweet spot?

and honestly, anyone have horror stories with certain years? i could use some tips here.

I ve heard good things about the 2011 to 2014 models especially the EcoBoost engines I bought a 2013 F150 up in Canada and its been solid

However some friends say to steer clear of the 2015-2017 years they had a few electrical issues I’ve seen some great deals though so maybe it depends on the mileage and history

ive had a 2015 f150 and it ran like a champ in Texas tough as nails I have heard good things about the 2018 models too seems like a sweet spot for reliability plus decent tech so yeah worth the look

So I had a '12 F-150 once and it was pretty solid for my work hauling stuff around in Michigan. Loved the interior but ate gas like a beast. I’ve heard the '14 models are also good but be careful of the eco boosts if you’re looking at those.

Just check the maintenance history and you’ll do fine.

I’ve had a 2016 F-150 for a couple years now and it’s been solid in snowy New York. Really like the fuel efficiency.

But I’ve heard the 2018 model is a sweet spot too. Great features and reliability.

I had a 2016 F-150 and it was a beast in the snow here in Minnesota. Super reliable too.

I’ve heard good things about the 2018 models too. Some folks say the earlier years like 2015 had engine issues so maybe steer clear of those. I guess it depends on what you’re looking for and budget matters too.

Overall Ford seems to have nailed it with that truck.

I had a 2015 F-150 that was awesome in Michigan it never let me down I ve heard 2017 is good too

But man the older models like 2013 the fuel economy was terrible

I have seen some good deals on 2015 to 2017 models they seem to hold up well and have some decent tech for their age.

Living in Texas I ve noticed those years are popular for work trucks but still comfy for family trips.

Avoid the ones from 2011 to 2014 though I had a friend with one and they had a bunch of transmission issues. Just my two cents on it

I ve always liked the 2015 to 2017 F-150s they balance power and efficiency well

In Michigan my cousin swears by his 2016 model

Maybe it depends on what you need honestly

I’ve had a 2017 F-150 for a few years now and it’s been solid up in Alberta with all that snow.

Try to avoid 2015 models though. They can have some weird transmission issues.
