so I’ve been using the RAV4 OEM cross bars for a bit now, and gotta say, there are some worries about the weight limit. I was loading them up with camping gear for a weekend trip, and I kept thinking, what if they snap? I mean, I don’t want my kayak taking a dive off the roof while driving down the highway, right?
But I’ve seen other folks load them up like they’re moving houses. Like, how are they not freaking out? One time I saw a buddy strap 2 bikes and a cooler up there. Seems risky, dude.
What’s the max weight you guys have loaded? I just wanna make sure I ain’t pushing it too much.
Saw a post on Facebook about RAV4 cross bars and weight limits last week. I’ve always been a bit skeptical when it comes to how much they can actually handle. Really wanting to throw my kayak up there but heard folks in Canada having issues with weight. Seems like a bummer when you need the extra space and dont want a trip ruin by gear falling off.
Personally I’ve always gone for the heavy duty ones just to be safe. Better to be safe than sorry especially with the family in tow.
ive used RAV4 cross bars for camping up in the Rockies and I was worried about weight limits but they held up fine. still wish they were a bit sturdier for heavier loads and rougher terrain.
I had my RAV4 at a park in Oregon last summer and loaded it up with gear. Felt nervous about the cross bars not holding everything. They seemed sturdy but still worried.
I’ve noticed some folks mentioning their concerns online too. Seems like a common thing among RAV4 owners. Maybe a bit more info from Toyota would help.
I ve been using RAV4 OEM cross bars for a while now and honestly I feel a bit uneasy about their weight limit
Last summer I loaded them up with camping gear for a trip in Colorado and I kept questioning if they could really handle it
They seemed sturdy but it kind of made me nervous driving through the mountains with all that weight
Ive noticed some chatter about those weight limits on RAV4 cross bars. Living near the mountains in Colorado I ve always wondered if they could handle my kayak plus all my gear.
I mean it’s cool for lighter stuff but when you stack on the bikes and camping stuff it feels a bit risky. Just hope they hold up on a long trip.
I’ve used my RAV4 for road trips in California and felt the cross bars were sturdy enough. But I wonder if heavy gear might be pushing it.
I have to say they seem a bit underwhelming if you load them too much. Just makes me think twice about my kayak adventures.
I’ve heard some chatter about the RAV4 cross bars being iffy with weight limits. When I was camping in Oregon last summer I overloaded mine a bit and got kinda worried. They seemed to hold up okay but I’d still be cautious about pushing it too hard. Better safe than sorry.
I’ve had my RAV4 for a couple years and honestly the cross bars feel a bit flimsy when loading heavier stuff like kayaks. Just don’t wanna risk it on long trips.
Living in Canada makes me worry more about snow gear too. Have to think about the weight limit every time I load up.
I’ve been using the RAV4 OEM cross bars in Texas for about a year now and honestly the weight limit has crossed my mind a few times. I have a kayak and it always feels a bit sketchy when loading it up.
Overall it seems they hold up but I wonder if they’re just playing it safe with those limits.
I got my RAV4 last winter in Maine and I noticed the cross bars seem a bit flimsy. I’ve been careful loading my kayak but still wonder if I’m pushing it. They say 150 lbs max but I feel like that’s risky.
I ve been using RAV4 cross bars for my camping trips in Canada and I gotta say I do worry about the weight limit sometimes. Twice I almost exceeded it and had this sinking feeling looking at my gear like do I really need all this. They seem sturdy enough but I guess manufacturers always play it safe with limits right
Still they can handle a good amount of stuff just gotta be cautious.
I’ve had my RAV4 for a few years now up in Canada and used those cross bars a ton. Honestly I always question the weight limit especially when I throw my kayak up there. I’ve read that some people push them a bit but it’s kinda sketchy. Just a little nervous about the whole thing really.
I’ve always loved my RAV4 but I’m a bit skeptical about those weight limits on the OEM cross bars. Last summer I went to the mountains with friends and packed so much stuff. I was worried the roof might buckle under the pressure.
It’s probably fine for casual trips but I wish the limit was a bit higher.
I once loaded my RAV4 for a camping trip in California and was worried about those cross bars. They feel sturdy but I’ve always wondered if they could handle all my gear without a hitch.
I think we gotta be cautious with that weight limit honestly. Better safe than sorry right?
I’ve noticed some chatter about the RAV4 crossbars weight limit lately. I’m from Seattle and took a road trip last summer. Loaded up my crossbars and felt a bit nervous about the limit. I hope Toyota really tested these things properly.
Some people say it’s a safety concern but honestly I think they’re built pretty sturdy. Just be smart about loading them up and you should be alright.
Hmmm I’ve seen some posts about RAV4 cross bars cracking under heavy loads. Last summer I was hauling my kayak up in Montana and didn’t really think about it but now I’m worried. They say the weight limit is a bit sketchy.
Also I wonder if anyone else has had issues with the clips breaking. It was super windy one day and I was just hoping it would hold. I’ve had trips planned and now I’m hesitant.
